Harvey Weinstein Faces Los Angeles County Court

TEN OF ELEVEN CHARGES AGAINST HARVEY WEINSTEIN UPHELD

" At Harvey Weinstein's Defense Hearing On Thursday, July 29, 2021, One Of The Cases Was Dismissed Because Seems To Be Beyond The Statute Of Limitations."

July 31, 2021 By Englebrook Independent News,

LOS ANGELES, CA.- A Judge heard arguments from the defense team of Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced movie mogul, trying to dismiss some of the new eleven cases against him. Weinstein was indicted last March on sex related counts, which involved five women that allegedly occurred between 2004 and 2013 in Los Angeles, California.

Weinstein's defense team argued that three of the criminal charges do not appear to fall within the applicable statute of limitations. On a technicality, one of the charges has been thrown out, though the prosecution is expected refile the charge against him. Mark Werksman, one of Weinstein's attorneys, believes Weinstein will be acquitted, if he receives a fair trial.

Weinstein was extradited from a New York State Prison on July 20, 2021, where he is serving a Twenty-Three Prison Sentence for raping an aspiring actress and forcing oral sex on a former film production assistant, to California to face more charges.

The 69-Year-Old Weinstein plead not guilty to eleven counts of Sexual Assault. According to the Los Angeles District Attorney, Weinstein if convicted on all of the counts against him faces 140 Years to Life in California State Prison.

What ahead, whether Weinstein is acquitted or not on the California Charges, Weinstein's future seems certain. Upon proceedings in California, he will be returned to New York to finish his sentence. Even if Weinstein is granted parole on the New York charges, Weinstein will be well into his late 80's when he is released.

Pemberton New Jersey Drug Dealer Indicted

A PEMBERTON TOWNSHIP NEW JERSEY DRUG DEALER HAS BEEN INDICTED IN CONNECTION WITH THE FATAL OVERDOSE OF A 27-YEAR-OLD WOMAN

" Antoine Crawley, 35, Of Pemberton, New Jersey, Indicted On Charges of Strict Liability For Drug Induced Death For The Fatal Drug Overdose Of A 27-Year-Old Pemberton Customer."

July 31, 2021 By Art Fletcher Reporting For: Englebrook Independent News,

PEMBERTON TOWNSHIP, NJ.- On Friday, July 30, 2021 Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina announced that a Grand Jury sitting in Burlington County has returned an indictment against a Pemberton Township Drug Dealer for causing the death of a Pemberton Township woman who Fatally Overdosed two years ago on Fentanyl she purchased from him.

A Grand Jury Charged Antoine Crawley, 35, from the Sunbury Village section of the Township, with First Degree Strict Liability for Drug-Induced Death; Third Degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance; Third Degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance with Intent to Distribute; and Third Degree Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.

The indictment was returned on Thursday, June 24, 2021 and signed by Prosecutor Coffina. Crawley pled not guilty during an arraignment in Superior Court earlier this week. He is presently lodged in the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly, New Jersey and awaiting trial.

Crawley’s co-defendant, Danielle Knight, 42, of Wrightstown, New Jersey has pled guilty to First Degree Strict Liability for Drug-Induced Death  and is awaiting sentencing. She has been released on her own recognizance.

The investigation began on August 19, 2019, after Brittney Wallace, 27, was found unconscious and unresponsive by her parents in the bathroom at the family’s residence. She was taken to Capital Health at Deborah – Emergency Services, where she was later pronounced dead.

An autopsy performed by Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood determined that Wallace died of Fentanyl Toxicity. The fentanyl level in her system was more than five times the lethal dose. The investigation revealed that Knight instructed Crawley to deliver drugs to Wallace at her residence.

Crawley was also indicted last month in a separate case with two co-defendants on drug possession charges stemming from an incident where an officer found heroin and cocaine in their vehicle during a traffic stop early last year in New Hanover Township, New Jersey.

Crawley and Knight are being prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Jeremy Lackey. The case was investigated by detectives from the Pemberton Township Police Department, with assistance from the Prosecutor’s Office Gang, Gun and Narcotics Task Force and K-9 Officer Ringo from the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department. The lead investigator is Pemberton Township Detective Joshua Danka.

Eric Haye, age 28, was arrested at his residence on Georges Place in Roselle, New Jersey after multiple sales of the Fraudulent Paper Tags to undercover officers. A search of Haye’s vehicle and residence recovered a printer, cell phone, computer and stock paper.

Haye has been charged with Three Counts of Third Degree Forgery; Three Counts of Fourth Degree Possession of False Government Documents; and One Count of Third Degree Conspiracy to Commit Forgery.

Following his arrest, Mr. Haye was transported to a Port Authority Police Department facility for processing on the charges. He is scheduled to make his first appearance in Hudson County Central Judicial Processing Court on August 18, 2021.

This undercover investigation, initiated by the Port Authority Office of Inspector General, in conjunction with the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, is part of an ongoing response to an increase of abuses of Temporary License Plates that is targeting the sellers of the Fraudulent Paper Tags.

The use of fraudulent Paper Tags has become a common recourse for criminals looking to mask their identities. Current investigations of Drug-Traffickers, Terrorists, Gang Members and Organized Theft Rings have all seen a rise in the use of these Fraudulent Paper Tags.

"For anyone looking to sell fake license tags online, the message is clear,” said Acting PA-OIG Inspector General Michael Farbiarz. “The ‘customer’ you think you’re dealing with could well be a Port Authority Office of the Inspector General undercover officer and instead of making a few bucks, you could end up under arrest.      The dozen were named by The Center for Countering Digital Hate as those intentionally peddling the most viral false information about vaccines and covid-19 online, in a study released in March, 2021 and later cited by The Biden Administration.

The Center for Countering Digital Hate urged social media companies to shut down accounts linked to the twelve but, despite several being removed, a majority are still active. As of July 25, 2021 accounts linked to the dozen still had a combined 520,000 followers on Instagram, 830,000 on Twitter, and 4.7 million on Facebook.

Reason may be that the content they share may have changed. Two of the three most popular of the dozen appear to have stepped away from posting covid and vaccines in recent months, after being hit with suspensions or a ban on smaller accounts.

Facebook says it has acted already, but pressure remains on them to act more decisively and absolutely in response to disinformation.

Cuba Blames The U.S.

CUBA'S FOREIGN MINISTER BLAMES THE UNITED STATES AFTER PARIS EMBASSY ATTACK

" Cuba Has Laid The Blame For An Attack On Their Embassy In Paris At The Doors Of The White House As Tensions Between The Two Countries Continues To Deteriorate."

July 28, 2021 By Englebrook Independent News,

PARIS, FRANCE - Cuba's response to three gas bombs being thrown at their Embassy in Paris has been unequivocally damning of The United States, with Foreign Minister Burno Rodriguez holding White House rhetoric in the recent week responsible.

Rodriguez in a tweet on Tuesday said, " I hold The U.S. Government responsible for its continuous campaigns against our country that encourages these behaviors and for calls for violence, with impunity, from its territory."

Cuba's worsing economic crisis and protests on the streets demanding change earlier this month prompted the U.S. to ramp up condemnation of the country's rulers, encouraging Cubans to Continue.

As recently as Monday, The U.S. and 20 other countries called on the regime to "respect the universal rights and freedoms of the Cuban people" which has bound to anger leaders of a country who believe they are unfair target of " Economic Asphyxiation," as described by President Diaz-Canel.

Meanwhile, France has condemned the attack and has opened an investigation to identify the people responsible. The State Department declined comment.

Since the protests two weeks ago, dozens of activists and journalists have been arrested, and at least one person has been killed. The regime's grip on power is clenching tighter, while the objection from The U.S. and Allies grows louder.

Bergen County "We Care For Our Seniors"

BERGEN COUNTY COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT TASK FORCE ANNOUNCES SENIOR CITIZENS RESOURCE INITIATIVE

" Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Community Engagement Division Conducted A Week-Long Senior Citizen Resource Initiative."

July 28, 2021 By Art Fletcher & Leo Madison Reporting For: Englebrook Independent News,

HACKENSACK, NJ.- On Tuesday, July 27, 2021 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella is pleased to announce a week-long senior citizen resource initiative titled, “We Care for Our Seniors” that was organized by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Community Engagement Division in partnership with the Bergen County Community Engagement Task Force. The initiative took place from Sunday, July 18 through Saturday, July 24, 2021.

The CETF is a network of Bergen County police officers who are focused on building firm and sustainable relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve through engagement. These officers host programs and initiatives intended to improve public safety, increase communication, share resources, and build trust.

Fifty-one Bergen County police departments participated in this week-long initiative, which was focused on addressing current crime trends targeting senior communities. Officers used creative ways to reach out to seniors, such as picking up expired medical prescriptions from senior homes and facilities; hosting meet and greets with senior groups and clubs, as well as coffees, cookouts, and lunches; handing out newsletters; teaching basic self-defense classes; and discussing the importance of physical and mental fitness. CETF members focused on raising awareness and educating seniors on how to avoid becoming the victim of increasingly prevalent IRS, social security, bail, grandparent, romance, utility worker, and distraction scams.

The “We Care for Our Seniors” initiative was organized because cases of fraud continue to rise, and seniors have been an increasingly vulnerable target due to Covid19 related isolation. In New Jersey, during 2020 and the first half of 2021, more than 300 senior fraud cases were reported to law enforcement, costing our seniors at least $2.9 million.

There are a few tips we recommend following and sharing with those around you, but most importantly: slow down, ask questions, contemplate the situation, and trust your instincts.

     • Limit the amount of private information you give out. Scammers search Facebook, Instagram, and other networks for family information they can use to fool you. • Ask questions of any strange caller to verify their identity. • Hang up and call any family member allegedly involved in an emergency to verify the story. Scammers often plead with you to keep the emergency a secret so you won’t try to confirm it. • If you speak to someone who claims to be a police officer, call the police department to verify the person’s identity and any information they’ve given you. • Verify the identity of any individual who shows up at your home before speaking with them. Don’t hesitate to call the company to verify they have sent a representative to your home.

If you or a loved one is already the victim of a scam, we encourage you to:

     • Contact law enforcement. This will help you determine whether you are a victim, and they may be able to assist you in recouping any lost funds. • Close or cancel any compromised accounts. Act quickly to mitigate financial loss by immediately contacting your bank, credit card company, or other financial institution. • Request a copy of your credit report. Get a free copy from a credit bureau and freeze your credit if necessary. Be sure to dispute any fraudulent or inaccurate information. • Request copies of documents or supporting evidence related to the potential fraud.

If you or a loved one is being scammed, call 911, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Tip-line at 201-226-5532, or the National Elder Fraud Hotline (run by the US Department of Justice) 1-833-FRAUD (1-833-8311).

Prosecutor Mark Musella would like to thank the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department and the Bergenfield, Bogota, Cliffside Park, Closter, Demarest, Dumont, East Rutherford, Edgewater, Elmwood Park, Englewood, Englewood Cliffs, Fairview, Fort Lee, Franklin Lakes, Garfield, Glen Rock, Hackensack, Hasbrouck Heights, Haworth, Hillsdale, Ho-Ho-Kus, Leonia, Little Ferry, Lodi, Lyndhurst, Mahwah, Montvale, Moonachie, New Milford, North Arlington, Northvale, Oakland, Old Tappan, Oradell, Palisades Park, Paramus, Ramsey, Ridgefield, Ridgefield Park, Ridgewood, River Edge, Rivervale, Rochelle Park , Rutherford, Saddle Brook, South Hackensack, Teaneck, Waldwick, Washington Township, and Westwood Police Departments for their participation in this initiative.

The public is encouraged to follow the CETF’s efforts on its website www.bcpo.net/CETF
