BREAKING: Elizabeth, New Jersey Homicide Investigation

UNION COUNTY AUTHORITIES CONTINUE TO INVESTIGATE THE FATAL STABBING OF A WOMAN

     " 37-Year-Old Elizabeth Woman Was Fatally Stabbed Saturday Night In Elizabeth, New Jersey."

ELIZABETH, NJ.- Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel reported that Detectives of The Union County Homicide Task Force are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the Stabbing Death of an Elizabeth Woman that occurred late Saturday Evening near The Elizabeth Waterfront.


     On Saturday, August 26, 2023, at approximately 10:40 p.m., Members of The Elizabeth Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call on a report of a Stabbing in the area of Broadway and Front Street in Elizabeth.


     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a woman, later identified as Lakeisha Brooks, 37, suffering from a Stab Wound. Ms. Brooks was immediately transported to an area Hospital where she succumbed to her injury and was pronounced deceased a short time later.


     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as authorities continue to search for a Suspect and Motive for the Death of Ms. Brooks.

PLAINSBORO, NJ.- A 44-Year-Old Plainsboro, New Jersey man who Staged a Breaking In and was First Charged with Aggravated Assault in the August 18, 2023, Beating of a 73-Year-Old Family Member has now been Charged with Murder after the Woman succumbed to her injuries on Friday.


    On August 18, 2023, at approximately 4:14 p.m., Members of The Plainsboro Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a Break In and that an individual was Severely Injured. Upon arrival, Police Officers found Herbert Roberts, 44, of Plainsboro unharmed inside the residence and Beverly Roberts, 73, of Princeton, covered in Blood having sustained Severe Injuries to her Head and Eyes. 


     Ms. Roberts was immediately Airlifted to University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey for treatment and remained in Critical Condition, until Friday, August 25, 2023, Ms. Roberts succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased. 


     The ensuing investigation by Detectives of The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office in conjunction with The Plainsboro Police Department determined that Mr. Roberts, who is a Family Member of Ms. Roberts Staged the Break In and was the individual responsible for the Beating and Ultimately the Death of Ms. Roberts. Mr. Roberts was Arrested at the scene without incident on August 18, 2023, and was Charged with First Degree Aggravated Assault.


     Mr. Roberts has been Lodged in The Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center and on Friday Charges were upgraded to First Degree Murder.

PERTH AMBOY, NJ.- On Friday, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone reported that a 64-Year-Old Fords, New Jersey man was Taken into Custody and Charged in connection to The 1984 Sexual Assault Juvenile Girl.



     Following an investigation into Allegations that a Juvenile Girl was Sexually Assaulted by Martin Klose in 1984. At the conclusion of the investigation Martin Klose, 64, of Fords, New Jersey, was Charged with One Count of Aggravated Sexual Assault; and One Count of Second Degree Sexual Assault. The Alleged Sexual Assault occurred in Perth Amboy, New Jersey when Mr. Klose was 25-Years-Old.


     On Thursday, August 24, 2023, Mr. Klose was Apprehended in The Fords Section of Woodbridge Township, New Jersey. Klose was Processed on The Charges and was Remanded to The Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending a Pretrial Detention Hearing.


     The investigation remains active and ongoing. SADDLE BROOK, NJ.- Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella reported that following an investigation a 32-Year-Old Saddle Brook man was Charged in connection with Physically Assaulting a Child under his care. 


     On Tuesday, August 22, 2023, Members of The Saddle Brook Police Department contacted The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit on a report of Child Abuse. A Swift-Moving Investigation by Detectives of The Bergen County Special Victims Unit and The Saddlebrook Police Department quickly determined that Victor Morales, 32, of Saddle Brook, New Jersey Physically Assaulted a Child under the Age of Thirteen.


     Accordingly, on Tuesday, Mr. Morales was Arrested at The Prosecutor's Office in Paramus, New Jersey, and formally Charged with One Count of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and One Count of Third Degree Aggravated Assault. Mr. Morles was Processed on The Charges and Remanded to The Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, New Jersey, pending Future Court Proceedings.

MOUNT HOLLY, NJ.- Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw reported that a 31-Year-Old Willingboro Homeless Man has Pled Guilty to Sexually Assaulting an Elderly Woman at Knifepoint during the summer of 2020 in Willingboro Township, New Jersey.



     In return for the Guilty Plea, The Burlington Prosecutor's Office has recommended that Shawn Midgette, 31, Serve 12 Years in New Jersey State Prison, on The Charge of First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault.


     Mr. Midgette, who was Homeless at the time of his arrest in July 2020 was known to stay in the Willingboro Area, also Pled Guilty to Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, for Threatening another Woman with a Knife during a separate incident. Midgette will be Sentenced to a Term of 5 Years for the Weapons Offence which will run Concurrently with The Sexual Assault Offense when he is Sentenced. The Pleas were Entered last week before The Honorable Christopher J. Garrenger, who has Scheduled Sentencing for October 27, 2023.


     The Guilty Pleas stem from an investigation that began on July 24, 2020, after an Elderly Woman was Sexually Assaulted in her Vehicle by a Man who asked her for a ride as she exited a Pharmacy located on Springside Road in Westhampton, New Jersey. Once in the car, Midgette forced her to Drive to the East Garfield section of Willingboro. Where Midgette Assaulted her and took Cash from her Purse before Fleeing on Foot.


     The following day, Mount Holly Police Officers were contacted by a Homeless Woman who said she had been Threatened with a Knife in Monroe Park. The Woman and Mr. Midgette were known to each other. Midgette was Taken into Custody two days later by Members of The Willingboro Police Department at the McDonald's on Beverly Rancocas Road.

TEANECK, NJ.- Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella reported that following an investigation a 22-Year-Old Teaneck, New Jersey man was Arrested and Charged with Possessing and Distributing Child Pornography.


     On Thursday, August 24, 2023, Detectives of The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Cyber Crimes Unit Executed a Court Authorized Search Warrant at the Teaneck Home of Dashawn D. Hooks following an Internet Child Pornography Investigation. During the investigation, Detectives determined that Mr. Hooks used the Internet to View, Download, Possess, Distribute, and Share images depicting Nude and or Sexually Explicit Children.


     Accordingly, on Thursday, August 24, 2023, Mr. Hooks was Arrested in Paramus, New Jersey, and Formally Charged with Second Degree Possession of Child Pornography; and Second Degree Distribution of Child Pornography.


     Mr. Hooks was Processed on the Charges and was Remanded to The Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, New Jersey pending a First Appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court.

BREAKING: Paterson, New Jersey Shooting Homicide Investigation

GUNFIRE ERUPTED YESTERDAY AFTERNOON IN PATERSON KILLING ONE AND INJURING ANOTHER

PATERSON, NJ.- Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes reported that Detectives are continuing their investigation into Yesterday Afternoon's Shooting that claimed the Life of a 19-Year-Old Paterson, New Jersey man and has left a 29-Year-Old Paterson man Hospitalized.



     On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at approximately 3:18 p.m., Members of The Paterson Police Department responded to the area of Putnam Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard in Paterson on a report of Shots Fired. While responding to the location, Police Officers were notified that a 19-Year-Old Paterson man had arrived at Saint Joseph's University Medical Center suffering from a Gunshot Wound to his Abdomen. 


     Within minutes, Paterson Police Officers were notified that another 29-Year-Old Paterson man had arrived at Saint Joseph's University Medical Center seeking treatment for a Gunshot Wound to his Leg. The 19-Year-Old man succumbed to his injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased a short time later. The 29-Year-Old man remains Hospitalized in Stable Condition.


     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time. More information may become available once released by authorities.

MOUNT HOLLY, NJ.- Yesterday, Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw reported that last week a Burlington County Superior Court Judge Sentenced a 43-Year-Old Willingboro, New Jersey Woman to Five Years in New Jersey State Prison for having a Sexual Relationship with a Student she met while Substitute Teaching at Willingboro Public School.



     Last week The Honorable Christopher J. Garrenger Sentenced Kameelah Kareem, who Pled Guilty earlier this year to Second Degree Sexual Assault.


     The Sentence stems from an investigation that began in early 2021 after Burlington County Authorities were notified of a possible Inappropriate Sexual Relationship between Ms. Kareem and a 15-Year-Old male Student that occurred during the 2019-2020 School Year. Ms. Kareem was a Substitute Teacher at The Bookbinder Alternative School in Willingboro. The Relationship happened on various dates between March 2019 and March 2020.


     During the investigation, Detectives determined that Ms. Kareem interacted with the Student on Multiple Occasions outside of the School.

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- Yesterday, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported that Detectives of The Hudson County Homicide Unit, Charged an 18-Year-Old Union City, New Jersey man in connection with the Shooting Death of Rafael Gomez that occurred in Jersey City on Sunday, January 29, 2023.


     On Sunday, January 29, 2023, at approximately 9:35 p.m., Members of The Jersey City Police Department responded to a report of Shots Fired in the area of Summit Avenue and Poplar Street in Jersey City, New Jersey. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Rafael Gomez, 25, of Jersey City suffering from an apparent Gunshot Wound to his Stomach. Mr. Gomez was immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased at 11:00 p.m. 



     Accordingly, on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, Sylis Lopez, 18, of Union City was Charged with Murder as an Accomplice; Conspiracy to Commit Murder; Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Lopez was Arrested on Charges at The Hudson County Correctional Facility where he is being Detained on an unrelated matter.

     On Saturday, August 19, 2023, at approximately 1:14 a.m., Members of The Paterson Police Department responded to the area of Fair and Auburn Streets in Paterson, New Jersey on a report of Shots being Fired. Upon arrival, Police Officers found evidence of a Crime Scene but no Victim was located.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ.- Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone reported that on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, The Honorable Benjamin S. Bucca, Jr., J.S.C. Sentenced Yokauri Batista-Alcantara to 11-Years in New Jersey State Prison for a Wrong-Way Fatal Crash that occurred on Thanksgiving Night in 2021, that Killed Two Children and Injured Three.


     On Thursday, November 21, 2023, at 11:53 p.m., Members of The North Brunswick Police Department responded to The Southbound Lane of Route 130 near The On-Ramp to Route 1 in North Brunswick Township on a report of a Serious Motor Vehicle Crash involving an Old Bridge Police Vehicle and a Honda Accord. 


     Upon arrival, Police Officers located Ms. Batista-Alcantara, 33, of New Brunswick, New Jersey, and Two Children injured inside the Honda Accord. Batista-Alcantara and the Two Children were immediately transported to an area Hospital, where the Children succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased. 


     The ensuing investigation by Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office Detective Jonathan Berman quickly determined that Two Old Bridge Police Officers were transporting an In-Custody Passenger to The Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick Township when Ms. Batista-Alcantara drove the Wrong-Way down the On-Ramp and Struck the Police Vehicle. The investigation further determined that Batista-Alcantara was under the Influence of Alcohol and was using her Cell Phone at the time of The Collision.



     Ms. Batista-Alcantara subsequently Pleaded Guilty to Two Counts of Second Degree Vehicular Homicide for the Deaths of the Two Children; and Three Counts of Third Degree Assault-by-Auto for the Serious Injuries the Three Occupants in the Police Vehicle sustained in the Crash, as well as One Count of Driving While Intoxicated. In return for the Guilty Plea, The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office recommended a 20-Year State Prison Sentence subject to The No Early Release Act.


     During Wednesday's Sentencing Hearing, Judge Bucca, Jr. Sentenced Batista-Alcantara to Two Six Year Prison Sentences on each Vehicular Homicide Charge for the Deaths of The Children, The Two Sentences will be Served Concurrently, and a Consecutive Five Year Sentence for the Three Counts of Assault-by-Auto for a Total of 11-Years in State Prison. Batista-Alcantara will be required to Serve Eighty-Five Percent of her Custodial Sentence before becoming eligible for Parole. Batista-Alcantara Permanently Forfeited her Nursing Licence and will have her Driver's License Suspended for Five-Years upon release from Prison. She will also be required to complete Three-Years of Parole Supervision.

HUDSON COUNTY GANGS TASK FORCE FINDS TWO CHILDREN DURING NARCOTICS RAID IN JERSEY CITY

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported that following a Weeks-Long Narcotics Investigation on Friday, August 18, 2023, a 38-Year-Old Jersey City, New Jersey man was Arrested and Charged with Multiple Narcotics and Child Endangerment Offenses.


     During the Early Morning Hours of Friday, August 18, 2023, Detectives of The Hudson County Gangs Task Force, with assistance from The Hudson County Regional SWAT Unit Executed a Court Authorized Search Warrant at the residence of Robert Johnson, 38, located on Van Wagenen Avenue in Jersey City. During the Search Detectives Seized Cocaine, Heroin, and Drug Paraphernalia. Detectives further found Two Children in the residence during the Search.


     Accordingly, Mr. Johnson was Arrested and Charged Two Counts of Third Degree Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance within 1000 Feet of a School; Two Counts of Second Degree Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance within 500 Feet of Public Property; Two Counts of Third Degree Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance; and Two Counts of Third Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.


     Mr. Johnson was Processed on The Charges and Remanded to The Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his First Appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court, which has been tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, August 23, 2023.

WEST NEW YORK, NJ.- Today, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported that Detectives of The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and The West New York Police Department are actively investigating a Fatal Fire that occurred in West New York on Sunday, August 20, 2023.


     On Sunday, August 20, 2023, at approximately 5:00 a.m., Members of The North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue responded to an Apartment Fire located above 6213 Bergenline Avenue in West New York, New Jersey. Upon arrival, Firefighters discovered Heavy Smoke coming from a Bedroom in the Apartment. While fighting the Fire, Firefighters found an Unresponsive man, later identified as Adrian Hernandez-Bienes, 55, inside the Bedroom. Mr. Hernandez-Bienes was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other individuals escaped from the building prior to Firefighters arriving.


     The initial investigation by The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force determined the Fire originated in an Apartment Bedroom. The Cause of the Fire remains under investigation by The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force, North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue, and The West New York Police Department.

BELVIDERE, NJ.- Warren County Prosecutor James L. Pfeiffer reported that following an investigation into the 2019 and 2021 Sexual Assaults of a Child that occurred in Franklin Township, Warren County, New Jersey. Michael Eaton, 44, of Zanesville, Ohio has been Arrested and Charged in connection with the Assaults.


     It has been alleged that in 2019 and 2021, Mr. Eaton engaged in Acts of Sexual Penetration and Contact while the Child was between the Ages of Five and Six. At the time of the alleged assaults, Mr. Eaton had a legal duty of care for the Child. 


     Accordingly, Mr. Eaton was Charged with First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; Second Degree Sexual Assault; and Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Mr. Eaton was Taken into Custody in Zanesville, Ohio, and was Lodged in The Zanesville County Jail pending Extradition back to New Jersey.


     If Convicted on The Charges, Mr. Eaton will be Subject to a Term of Life in New Jersey State Prison, pursuant to The Jessica Lunsford Act.

WEST MILFORD, NJ.- Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes reported that following an investigation into the Alleged Sexual Assault of a Child, a 32-Year-Old West Milford, New Jersey man was Arrested last Monday and Charged with Multiple Sex Crimes Offenses.



     On June 10, 2023, Members of The West Milford Police Department contacted The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office in regards to a Child being Sexually Abused. An investigation was initiated, and after Detectives interviewed the Child and Multiple Witnesses. Detectives determined that Michael Alexander Lemus, 32, of West Milford Sexually Abused the Child in the presence of Two other Children in a Home in West Milford, New Jersey.


     Accordingly, on Monday, August 14, 2023, Mr. Lemus was Taken into Custody without incident and Charged with Two Counts of Second Degree Sexual Assault; One Count of Third Degree Criminal Restraint; Three Counts of Third Degree Fourth Degree Criminal Sexual Contact; and Three Counts of Third Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.


     Mr. Lemus was Processed on The Charges and Remanded to The Passaic County Jail. The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office has Filed a Pretrial Detention Motion to have Mr. Lemus Detained Pending the outcome of The Charges Filed Against him.


     If Convicted on all the Charges, Mr. Lemus will face a lengthy Term of Incarceration in New Jersey State Prison. Mr. Lemus upon release from prison will be subject to Parole Supervision for Life and Megan's Law Registration Requirements.

KEYPORT, NJ.- Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago reported that Detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a Fatal Accident that Killed a Woman early Saturday Morning on Route 36 in Keyport, New Jersey.


     On Saturday, August 19, 2023, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Members of The Keyport Police Department responded to the area of Route 36 and Atlantic Street in Keport on a report of a person being Struck by a Motor Vehicle. Upon arrival, Police Officers found an Adult Woman who had been Struck by a Motor Vehicle.


     The woman whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin was immediately transported to Bayshore Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased around 2:15 a.m.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ.- An apparent altercation between Two Teenagers in Atlantic City on Wednesday Night, ends with a 16-Year-Old Juvenile Dead and another Jailed, according to Atlantic County Authorities.


     On Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 10:40 p.m., Members of The Atlantic City Police Department responded to The 1300 Block of Caspian Avenue in Atlantic City on a report of a Teen being Stabbed. Upon arrival, Police Officers located a 16-Year-Old Male Juvenile inside an apartment suffering from a Stab Wound to his Chest.


     The Teen was immediately transported to AtlantiCare Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injury and was subsequently pronounced deceased, a short time later.


     A subsequent investigation led to another 16-Year-Old Juvenile Male being identified as the individual responsible for the Death of the Teen. The Teen was taken into Custody and Charged with First Degree Murder; Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Third Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. The Teen was Processed on the Charges and is being Detained in a New Jersey Juvenile Detention Center.

PASSAIC, NJ.- Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes reported that Police are continuing the investigation into a Wednesday Night Shooting in Passaic that has left a Passaic, New Jersey Resident hospitalized.


     On Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at approximately 11:35 p.m., while on Patrol on Passaic Street, Members of The Passaic Police Department were notified that a Shooting had just occurred in the area of Passaic and Third Streets in Passaic. Upon arrival, Police Officers found evidence of a Crime Scene and a 24-Year-Old Passiac Resident who had been Struck by Gunfire. 


     The individual was immediately transported to Saint Mary's Hospital in Passaic, New Jersey for treatment. 


     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time. More information may become available once released by authorities.

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported that on Thursday, August 17, 2023, a 45-Year-Old Jersey City man was Taken into Custody by Detectives of The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and Charged in connection with a Jersey City Motor Vehicle Crash that Seriously Injured another Driver.


     Patrick Gapasin, 45, of Jersey City, New Jersey was Charged with Aggravated Assault; and Assault by Auto. Mr. Gapasin was Arrested at his Home and Remanded to The Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his First Appearance in Hudson County Central Judicial Processing Court. 


     On January 22, 2023, at approximately 7:55 a.m., Members of The Jersey Police Department responded to the area of Route 1 & 9 North and Sip Avenue on a report of a Motor Vehicle Crash. Upon arrival, Police Officers located Two Vehicles, a Honda Accord operated by a 60-Year-Old Jersey City man and an Infinity Q60 operated by Mr. Gapasin, both Vehicles had sustained Heavy Damage. Both Drivers were transported to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment. The 60-Year-Old Driver of The Honda Accord suffered Multiple Serious Injuries.


     A subsequent investigation by Detectives of The Hudson County Collision Investigation Unit concluded that Mr. Gapasin was traveling North Bound on Route 1 & 9 at a High Rate of Speed when his Vehicle Struck the Honda Accord at the Sip Avenue Intersection.

CAMDEN, NJ.- Detectives are continuing their investigation into an Early Tuesday Morning Shooting that Killed One Man and left another Man Injured, according to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay.


     On Tuesday, August 15, 2023, just minutes before 1:00 a.m., Members of The Camden County Police Department responded to The Northgate 1 Apartment Building Lobby on Multiple Reports that Two Men had just been Shot. Upon arrival, Police Officers found Two Men, Quashawn Smith, 21, of Camden, New Jersey, and a 20-Year-Old West Deptford, New Jersey Man, both suffering from Multiple Gunshot Wounds. 


     Both men were immediately transported to Cooper University Hospital, where Mr. Smith succumbed to his injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased at 1:42 a.m.


     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time. CRESSKILL, NJ.- Today, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella reported that following an investigation into last night's Murder of a 48-Year-Old Woman inside her Home, a 30-Year-Old Family Member was Arrested and Charged for her Murder.


     On Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at approximately 6:46 p.m., Members of The Cresskill Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call at a Residence located at 151 Stonegate Trail in Cresskill. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a Woman, later identified as Irma Daniels, 48, of Cresskill, deceased from apparent Trauma to her Head. Ms. Daniels was pronounced deceased at the scene. The subsequent investigation by Detective of The Bergen County Major Crimes Unit and The Cresskill Police Department Quickly determined that John Daniels, Jr., 30 of Cresskill Struck Ms. Daniels in the Head with a Baseball Bat and then Fled the Residence.


     Accordingly, Today, August 17, 2023, Mr. Daniels was Arrested and Charged with First Degree Murder; Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Third Degree Hindering Apprehension by Suppression; Third Degree Hindering Apprehension by Providing False Information; and Fourth Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.


     Mr. Daniels, Jr. was Processed on The Charges and Remanded to The Bergen County Jail pending a First Appearance in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ.- Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone reported that Yesterday, a Grand Jury sitting in Middlesex County, New Jersey Returned an Indictment against Rashid Ali Bynum, 29, of Portsmouth, Virginia, with The Shooting Death of Sayreville Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour.



     On Wednesday, August 16, 2023, Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Amber Gibbs presented the case in front of The Grand Jury, who Returned the Indictment Charging Mr. Bynum with First Degree Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Second Degree Unlawful Possession of Weapon.



     On February 1, 2023, at approximately 7:22 P.M., Members of The Sayreville Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting Shots Fired on Samuel Circle in Sayreville. Upon arrival, Police Officers found Eunice Dwumfour Dead inside her Vehicle from Multiple Gunshot Wounds. Ms. Dwumfour was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.


     On May 30, 2023, Mr. Bynum was Arrested and Charged with The Murder of Ms. Dwumfourth. Bynum was Taken into Custody outside his residence in Chesapeake, Virginia. On July 27, 2023, Bynum was Extradited back to New Jersey to Face The Charges. Mr. Bynum continues to be Held in The Middlesex County Adult Correctional Facility pending the outcome of The Charges.
