30-YEAR-OLD CRESSKILL MAN CHARGED WITH BEATING FAMILY MEMBER TO DEATH WITH BASEBALL BAT

CRESSKILL, NJ.- Today, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella reported that following an investigation into last night's Murder of a 48-Year-Old Woman inside her Home, a 30-Year-Old Family Member was Arrested and Charged for her Murder.
On Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at approximately 6:46 p.m., Members of The Cresskill Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call at a Residence located at 151 Stonegate Trail in Cresskill. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a Woman, later identified as Irma Daniels, 48, of Cresskill, deceased from apparent Trauma to her Head. Ms. Daniels was pronounced deceased at the scene. The subsequent investigation by Detective of The Bergen County Major Crimes Unit and The Cresskill Police Department Quickly determined that John Daniels, Jr., 30 of Cresskill Struck Ms. Daniels in the Head with a Baseball Bat and then Fled the Residence.
Accordingly, Today, August 17, 2023, Mr. Daniels was Arrested and Charged with First Degree Murder; Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Third Degree Hindering Apprehension by Suppression; Third Degree Hindering Apprehension by Providing False Information; and Fourth Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
Mr. Daniels, Jr. was Processed on The Charges and Remanded to The Bergen County Jail pending a First Appearance in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
