A 22-YEAR-OLD MIDDLETOWN NEW YORK MAN HAS BEEN CHARGED BY BERGEN COUNTY AUTHORITIES

HACKENSACK, NJ.- On Tuesday, July 27, 2021 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of Travoy Wardlow, 22, of Middletown, New York on sexual assault charges. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love, the Hackensack Police Department under the direction of Officer In Charge Captain Darrin DeWitt and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department under the direction of Sheriff Anthony Cureton.
On Saturday, July 24, 2021, the Hackensack Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting that a woman was being attacked on the street in Hackensack, New Jersey by an unknown assailant. The Hackensack Police responded and with the assistance of witnesses and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit, the suspect was located blocks away from the scene of the attack hiding in a backyard. At that time, he was taken into custody and was positively identified as Travoy Wardlow.
The victim was interviewed at the scene and disclosed that she was sexually assaulted during the attack. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit was contacted and responded along with the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
As a result of the investigation, Travoy Wardlow was charged by the Hackensack Police Department with One Count of Second Degree Sexual Assault; One Count of Fourth Degree Criminal Sexual Contact; and One Count of Simple Assault, a Disorderly Persons Offense. Wardlow was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court.
