PATERSON, NJ.- On Sunday, July 17, 2022, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announced that on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at approximately 12:03 p.m., Members of The Paterson Police Department responded to the area of 21st Avenue and Spring Street in Paterson, New Jersey on a report of shots fired. 


     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a 16-Year-Old juvenile who had sustained a Non-Life Threatening Gunshot Wound. The victim was immediately transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey for treatment.

CAMDEN, NJ.- On Friday, July 15, 2022, Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez announced that Detectives have Charged a Camden, New Jersey man in connection with last month's Fatal Shooting.


     On Friday, July 15, 2022, Derrick Miller was formally Charged with One Count of First Degree Murder and Related Weapons Offenses in the Shooting Death of Charles Copling, 37, of Camden, New Jersey. Mr. Miller current lodged in the Camden County Correctional Facility on other Charges was processed on the Charges and will await a Detention Hearing in Camden County Superior Court.


     On June 17, 2022, at approximately 11:59 a.m. Members of The Camden County Police Department responded to the 1200 Decatur Street on a report of a ShotSpotter Activation. Upon arrival, Police Officers located a victim, later identified as Charles Copling III, lying on the ground suffering from an apparent Gunshot Wound.


     Mr. Copling was immediately transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injury and was subsequently pronounced deceased four hours later.

Paterson Man Pleads Guilty

PATERSON PLEADS GUILTY IN LAST YEAR'S YMCA FATAL STABBING

PATERSON, NJ.- On Friday, July 15, 2022, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announced that Jasmir Cleaves, 34, of Paterson, New Jersey, Pleaded Guilty to Aggravated Manslaughter in connection with a Fatal Stabbing. 


     On Friday, August 6, 2021, Members of The Paterson Police Department responded to the YMCA located at 128 Ward Street in Paterson, New Jersey on a report of a Stabbing. Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered a victim lying on the hallway floor suffering from  apparent Stab Wounds. Police Officers immediately began providing medical attention to the victim and requested an ambulance. The victim was transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased.



     On Friday, July 15, 2022, Mr. Cleaves Pled Guilty to One Count of First Degree Aggravated Manslaughter, before The Honorable Marybel Mercado-Ramirez, J.S.C. Pursuant to the terms of The Plea Agreement, The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office has recommended that Mr. Cleaves serve Twenty-Six Years in New Jersey State Prison, with Eighty-Five term to be service before parole eligibility, pursuant to The No Early Release Act. Upon release from prison, Mr. Cleaves will be subject to a Five Year term of Parole Supervision. Mr. Cleaves Sentencing is scheduled for September 20, 2022, before Judge Ramirez.

WEST NEW YORK, NJ.- On Monday, July 11, 2022, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced that On Sunday, July 10, 2022, Members of The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit Arrested Rogelio Rendon-Mejia, 42, of Hammonton, New Jersey for committing a Sex Crime on a woman in West New York. 


     The crime occurred in the early morning hours of July 10, 2022, following a gathering in an apartment on 51st Street. The victim was not known to Mr. Rendon-Mejia and her 7- Year-Old Son was in the apartment during the alleged attack.


     Mr. Rendon-Mejia has been Charged with Third Degree Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact, and Third Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. 


     Rendon-Mejia was taken into custody at The West New York Police Headquarters and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.

PATERSON, NJ.- An early Sunday morning Shooting in Paterson leaves Five Injured. On Sunday, June 26, 2022, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announced that on June 26, 2022, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Members of The Paterson Police Department responded to the area of Madison Street and Essex Street in Paterson, New Jersey on a report of Shots Fired. 


     Upon arrival, Police Officers located a potential crime scene and a 25-Year-Old Haledon, New Jersey man who sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The victim was immediately transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment. 


     During the initial investigation, Members of the Paterson Police Department were notified that a 17-Year-Old Juvenile, a 19-Year-Old Paterson man, a 30-Year-Old Paterson man, and a 19-Year-Old Paterson man had arrived at Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey, seeking treatment for non-life threatening Gunshot Wounds. Based on the preliminary investigation, all five victims were in the area of Madison Street and Essex Street in Paterson, New Jersey, when they were struck by Gunfire.

PATERSON, NJ.- On Saturday, June 25, 2022, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announced that Detectives are continuing their investigation into an early morning Paterson Homicide. 


     On Saturday, June 25, 2022, at approximately 1:10 a.m., Members of The Paterson Police Department responded to the area of 33 Belle Avenue, Paterson, New Jersey on a report of Shots Fired. 


     Upon arrival, Police Officers located evidence of a crime scene in the area of 41 Belle Avenue but did not locate a victim. A short time later, Members of The Paterson Police Department were notified that Yeshawn Staggers, 27 years-old from Paterson, was transported St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for a Gunshot Wound but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

ENGLEWOOD, NJ.- On Saturday, June 18, 2022, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced that Detectives are continuing to investigate the Death of a man who was found deceased Saturday, June 18, 2022.



     On Saturday, June 18, 2022, at approximately 7:00 a.m., Members of The Bergen County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an unconscious man lying in the shoulder of Route 4 West near South Dean Street in Englewood, New Jersey.


     Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man deceased and had sustained injuries consistent with having been struck by a vehicle. The identity of the man has not been released by authorities.


     The investigation remains active and ongoing and is being conducted by The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Fatal Accident Unit under the direction of Chief Jason Love in conjunction with The Bergen County Sheriff's Office under the Direction of Sheriff Anthony Cureton. TRENTON, NJ.- On Thursday, June 16, 2022, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri announced that a Mercer County Jury has found a 34-Year-Old Trenton, New Jersey man Guilty for Murdering a 20-Year-Old man, who was trying to purchase a PlayStation 4 for his younger brother.



     On Thursday, June 16, 2022, A Mercer County Jury returned Guilty Verdicts on Akmal Alvaranga, 34, of Trenton on Charges of Murder; Felony Murder; Kidnapping; Robbery; Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.


     On March 24, 2018, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Members of The Hamilton Police Department responded to the Corner of Sixth Avenue and Assunpink Boulevard on a report of an Unconscious and Unresponsive man near the Canal.


     Upon arrival, Police Officer located a male victim, later identified as Danny Diaz-Delgato, 20, lying face down and unresponsive with his hands tied behind his back and his face bound in tape, having sustained Multiple Gunshot Wounds to his Body, Head and Leg.


     During a three week trial before Mercer County Superior Court Judge Darlene J. Peretska. Mercer County Assistant Prosecutor Rachel Cook presented evidence and testimony that Mr. Alvaranga and Co-Defendant Rufus Thompson lured Mr. Diaz-Delgato to an alley in Trenton under the belief that he was purchasing a PlayStation 4 for his younger brother.


     The to men Kidnapped Mr. Diaz-Delgato at Gunpoint, Bound and Gagged him, and then held him in a Trenton Garage for numerous hours before driving him to Hamilton and Shooting him Nine Times.


     Mr. Thompson previously Pleaded Guilty to The Murder of Mr. Diaz-Delgato and is serving a Forty Five Year New Jersey State Prison Sentence. Mr Alvaranga is Scheduled to be Sentenced on September 1, 2022. Mr. Alvaranga faces Life in Prison on the Murder Charge and Consecutive Prison Sentence of Fifteen to Thirty Years on the Kidnapping Charge as well as other Terms on the Robbery and Weapons Convictions.


     " The State is grateful that the jury was able to review the overwhelming evidence in this case and come to a swift and just verdict," Assistant Prosecutor Cook said. " By all accounts, Danny was a remarkable person who was a great friend, loving brother, and devoted son. Tragically, Danny's young life was cut short after crossing paths with the defendant. While we can never get Danny back, it is our hope that his loved ones can find some comfort in today's verdict."

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ.- On Wednesday, June 15, 2022, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and New Brunswick Police Director Anthony A. Caputo announced that Detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the Fatal Stabbing of a 31-Year-Old New Brunswick, New Jersey man.


     On Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Members of The New Brunswick Police Department responded to the area of Seaman Street and Railroad Avenue on a report of a Stabbing.


     Upon arrival, Police Officer found Sanddi Cruz, 31, of New Brunswick, New Jersey, who had sustained Multiple Stab Wounds. Mr Cruz had succumbed to his injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.

ELIZABETH, NJ.- On Tuesday, June 14, 2022, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel announced that an East Orange, New Jersey man, who admitted Killing his estranged girlfriend was Sentenced to Thirty Years in New Jersey State Prison.



     On Friday, June 10, 2022, Union County Superior Court Judge John Deitch imposed the term on Tyler Rios, 28, of East Orange, New Jersey. Handing down a 25-Year Sentence on Aggravated Manslaughter Conviction and a 5-Year Consecutive Sentence for Desecrating Human Remains.


     The July, 9, 2021 incident that sparked a National Amber Alert and launched a Multi State investigation by State and Federal Authorities resulted in the recovery of Tyler Rios' Son and the Body of the Child's Mother in a wooded area along Interstate 40 in Monterey, Tennessee the following day.

MINE HILL, NJ.- On Tuesday, June 14, 2022, Morris County Authorities , at approximately 5:23 p.m., Members of The Morris County Emergency Medical Service were in the parking lot of the Mine Hill Beach, 100 Green Road in Mine Hill, New Jersey. Emergency Medical Service's Personnel were approached by a group who stated that two individuals went into the water at the sand pits and never came out. The subjects were identified as 17 & 22 year old Hispanic Boys.



Morris County Emergency Medical Service immediately contacted The Morris County Communications Center to alert Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services, and an immediate search of the area was conducted that was met with negative results. The following agencies were immediately deployed to the area, Wharton Police Department; Mine Hill Fire Department; Morris County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit; Morris County Prosecutors Office; Morris County Office of Emergency Management; Roxbury Police Department; and Randolph Police Department.


     An intensive search of the lake area where the subjects were last seen was immediately commenced using divers from responding Police and Emergency Medical Service's Personnel, however the search was hampered due to tangled vegetation below the water surface. After hours of searching, one body was recovered, and a second body subsequently recovered. The Identity of the Boys is being withheld pending further investigation and notification to family members.

Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announced that on June 11, 2022, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Members of The Paterson Police Department responded to the area of East 26 th Street and 7 th Avenue in Paterson, New Jersey on a report of Shots Fired. 


     Upon arrival, Police Officers located a potential crime scene, and a 23-Year-Old Paterson man, and a 24-Year-Old Garfield man who each sustained non-life threatening Gunshot Wounds. The victims were immediately transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey for treatment. 


     Based on the preliminary investigation, the victims were in the area of East 26th Street and 7th Avenue when they struck by Gunfire.


     No Arrests have been made. The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information may become available once released by authorities.

JAMESBURG, NJ.- After a investigation into a Death of a Newborn, On Friday, June 10, 2022, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Jamesburg Police Chief James Craparotta announced the Arrest of a 19-Year-Old Jamesburg woman in connection with the Death of her Newborn Daughter.


     On Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Members of The Jamesburg Police Department responded to a residence for a Welfare Check on a 19-Year-Old Jamesburg woman. Jessica Farag.


     Ms. Farag and her Infant Daughter were transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey where the Infant was pronounced deceased.


     An initial investigation by Members of The Jamesburg Police Department and Members of The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office determined that Ms. Farag gave birth to the infant earlier in the day, and failed to seek medical treatment, resulting in the death of the infant.


     Ms. Farag has been Charged with One Count of First Degree Aggravated Manslaughter; One Count of Second Degree Desecration of Human Remains and One Count of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Ms. Farag was processed on the Charges and lodged in The Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending a Detention Hearing in Middlesex County Superior Court.

Mercer County Homicide Investigation

TRENTON, NJ.- On Monday, May 6, 2022 Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri announced The Mercer County Homicide Task Force and The Ewing Police Department continue to investigate a Fatal Shooting that occurred Monday morning on Hillcrest Avenue in Ewing, New Jersey.


     On Monday, June 6, 2022, at approximately 6:10 a.m., Members of The Ewing Police Department responded to Priori’s Deli locate at 301 Hillcrest Avenue. 


     Upon arrival, Police Officers found two adult men suffering from Gunshot Wounds. Both men were transported to the hospital where Oscar Palacios, 54, of Trenton, New Jersey was pronounced deceased. The second victim, a 57-Year-Old Hamilton, New Jersey man, remains hospitalized. The two men are brothers and employees of the deli.


     Detectives are investigating all potential motives and attempting to piece together what led up to the Shooting of the men, which occurred inside of the deli. PATERSON, NJ.- On Sunday, June 5, 2022, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announced on June 5, 2022, at approximately, 4:32 a.m., Members of The Paterson Police Department were notified that a 42-Year-Old  Paterson woman had arrived at Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey for treatment of multiple non-life threatening Gunshot Wounds.


     Based on the initial investigation, the woman was in the area of Summer and Montgomery Streets in Paterson, New Jersey when she was shot. A potential crime scene was located in that area.


     No Arrests have been made and the investigation remains active and ongoing. More information may become available once released by authorities.

Arrest Made In Paterson Shooting

TWO BERGEN COUNTY MEN CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH MAY 5, 2022 PATERSON SHOOTING

     " Malik Lee & Zion Martin Have Been Charged Attempted Murder & Weapons Offenses With The Shooting Of A 28-Year-Old Paterson Man."

PATERSON, NJ.- On Thursday, June 2, 2022, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora, and Englewood Police Deputy Chief Thomas Greeley announced that based upon an investigation by The Paterson Police Department, in conjunction with The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, Zion Martin, 19, of Englewood, New Jersey, and Malik Lee, 26, of Teaneck, New Jersey, were Arrested in connection to a Shooting  that took place on May 5, 2022, in the area in the area of Summer Street and Hamilton Avenue in Paterson, New Jersey. 



     Mr. Martin has been Charged with First Degree Attempted Murder; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Handgun; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Second Degree Aggravated Assault; and Fourth Degree Aggravated Assault. Mr. Lee has been Charged with First Degree Attempted Murder; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Handgun; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Second Degree Aggravated Assault; and Fourth Degree Aggravated Assault.



     On May 5, 2022, at approximately 10:34 p.m, Members of The Paterson Police Department responded to the areas of Ellison, Van Houten, Fair, and Paterson Streets in Paterson, New Jersey on a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, Police Officers located a potential crime scene and a 28-Year-Old Paterson man who had sustained multiple non-fatal gunshot wounds. The victim was immediately transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey for treatment.


     An ensuing investigation determined that the victim was in the area of Summer Street and Hamilton Avenue in Paterson when he was struck by Gunfire. 


     Based on the investigation, Mr. Lee and Mr. Martin were identified as the Shooters and Arrest Warrants were issued.  Martin and Lee were Apprehended by Members of The Englewood Police Department on June 1, 2022, after a brief foot pursuit in the area of West Englewood Avenue and Lafayette Place in Englewood, New Jersey. The two face additional Criminal Charges stemming from their Arrests in Bergen County.


     The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office has filed motions for the Pretrial Detention of Mr. Lee and Mr. Martin which will be heard on June 7, 2022, by The Honorable Imre Karaszegi, Jr., J.S.C.

Jersey City Homicide Investigation

HUDSON COUNTY AUTHORITIES CONTINUE TO INVESTIGATE SUNDAY'S AFTERNOON FATAL STABBING

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- On Monday, May 30, 2022, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Unit and The Jersey City Police Department continue to investigate a Fatal Stabbing that occurred on Sunday Afternoon, May 29, 2022.


     On Sunday, May 29, 2022, at approximately 1:53 p.m., Members of The Jersey City Police Department responded to the area of 112 Bostwick Avenue on a report of a Fight.



     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Jawon Purcell, 28, of Jersey City, having sustained Multiple Stab Wounds in the area of 112 Bostwick Avenue. Mr. Purcell was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene at 2:03 p.m.


     The Cause and Manner of Death are pending the findings of The Regional Medical Examiner's Office.


     The Hudson County Homicide Unit and The Jersey City Police Department are actively the Homicide of Mr. Purcell. No Arrests have been made at this time. Arrest Made In Shooting Death

TWO CUMBERLAND COUNTY MEN ARRESTED IN THE MAY 26, 2022 SHOOTING DEATH OF 15-YEAR-OLD

     " Deshawn T. Bowen & Rohdane E. Watson, Jr. Have Been Charged With Murder & Related Weapons Offenses In The Shooting Death Of Anthony Torres-Sanchez."

BRIDGETON, NJ.- On Tuesday, May 31, 2022, Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae announced that on Friday, May 27, 2022, Two Cumberland County Men were Charged in connection to the Thursday morning, May 26, 2022 Fatal Shooting of Anthony Torres-Sanchez, 15, of Vineland, New Jersey.


     On Thursday, May 26, 2022, at approximately 11:45 a.m., Members of The Vineland Police Department responded to The Eighteen Hundred Block of North Delsea Drive on report of a Shooting.


     Upon arrival, Police Officers located a teen victim, later identified as Anthony Torres-Sanchez, 15, of Vineland suffering from a Gunshot Wound. The teen was immediately transported to Inspira Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injury and was subsequently pronounced deceased a short time later.


     On Friday, May 27, 2022, Deshawn T. Bowen, 23, of Bridgeton, New Jersey was taken into custody and Charged with First Degree Murder; Conspiracy to Commit Murder and Two Second Degree Related Weapons Offenses. Today, Tuesday, May 31, 2022 Rohdane E. Watson, 18, of Vineland, New Jersey was taken into custody and Charged with First Degree Murder; Conspiracy to Commit Murder and Two Related Weapons Offenses.


     Both Mr. Bowen and Mr. Watson have been lodged in The Cumberland County Jail pending their First Appearance. The Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office will File a Pretrial Detention Motion in State Superior Court to have both Defendants detained pending the outcome of the Charges against them.


     The investigation remains active and ongoing. Franklin Township Police Officer Charged

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP POLICE OFFICER CHARGED WITH DEATH BY AUTO IN THE MARCH 2022 CRASH

     " After The Conclusion Of An Investigation Lawrence J. Stiscia Has Been Charged With Causing The Death Of Motorcyclist While Driving Drunk."

WASHINGTON, NJ.- On Wednesday, May 26, 2022, Warren County Prosecutor James L. Pfeiffer announced that an investigation conducted by The Washington Township Police Department in conjunction with The Warren County Prosecutor's Office into the circumstances surrounding a March 18, 2022 Fatal Collision on Route 31 North in Washington Township, New Jersey has resulted in Charges being filed against a Franklin Township Police Officer, Lawrence J. Stiscia.



     The investigation determined that on March 18, 2022, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Members of The Washington Township Police Department responded to Route 31 North on a report of a Motor Vehicle Crash.


     Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered that a motorcyclist who was attempting to turn onto Asbury Anderson Road when he was struck from behind by by a motor vehicle operated by Mr. Stiscia.


     An ensuing investigation determined that Mr. Stiscia appeared to be under the influence of Alcohol at the time of the incident and had caused the accident and the Death of the Motorcyclist.


     The results of a Blood Alcohol Concentration, (BAC) revealed that Mr. Stiscia Blood Alcohol Concentration was 0.201 %. A Driver is considered to be under the influence at 0.08 % or greater. 


     Based upon the results of the BAC, Mr Stiscia was Charged with One Count of Second Degree Death by Auto. Stiscia was released on Pre-Trial Supervision following his First Appearance in Warren County State Superior Court.


     At the time of the accident Mr. Stiscia was also issued Motor Vehicle Summons, including Driving While Intoxicated.
