Two Charged In Neptune Murder

TWO CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH THE WEDNESDAY JANUARY 19, 2022 DOUBLE HOMICIDE IN NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP NEW JERSEY

     " Gabriel Braithwaite & Jerod Dearin Have Been Charged With Murder, Conspiracy, & Weapons Offenses In The Shooting Deaths Of Samore Edwards & Isaiah Williams."

FREEHOLD, NJ.- On Friday, February 4, 2022 Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced Two Bayshore men have been Arrested and Charged in connection with the Double Homicide that took place in Neptune Township, New Jersey last month.


     Gabriel Braithwaite, 19, of Keansburg, New Jersey and Jerod Dearin, 22, of Cliffwood Beach, New Jersey were both Charged with First Degree Murder; First Degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and Third Degree Hindering Apprehension in connection with The Shooting Deaths of Samore Edwards, 18, of Plainfield, New Jersey and Isaiah Williams, 19, of New Brunswick, New Jersey.


     On Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at approximately 8:15 p.m., Members of The Neptune Township Police Department responded to The 1300 Block of Washington Avenue on a report of a Shooting.


     Upon arrival, Police Officers two victims, later identified as Samore Edwards and Isaiah Williams inside a parked vehicle, both having sustained Multiple Gunshot Wounds. Ms. Edwards had succumbed to her injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene. Mr. Williams was immediately transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center were he was pronounced deceased a short time later.


     An intensive investigation conducted by The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office in conjunction with Members of The Monmouth County Sheriff's, The Neptune Township Police Department, and The Keansburg Police Department were able to identify Mr. Braithwaite and Mr. Dearin as the individuals responsible for The Shooting Deaths of Ms. Edwards and Mr. Williams. Both men were taken into custody without incident, early Friday morning.


     " This was a brazen and brutal crime, and the swiftness with which it was investigated and these defendants apprehended is the testament of the quality of no small amount of stellar collaborative work," Acting Prosecutor Linskey said.
