Police Charge Teenage Boy In Late Thursday Afternoon Pistol Whipping Assault In Northwest Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC.- A 14-year-old juvenile male has been arrested and charged following an alleged pistol-whipping assault that occurred Thursday afternoon in Northwest Washington, D.C., according to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
Authorities said the incident took place on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at approximately 5:25 p.m. in the 3100 block of Hiatt Place in Northwest, D.C.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, a member of the National Guard witnessed the assault as it unfolded and observed the suspect striking the victim with a firearm. The Guardsman immediately alerted law enforcement, prompting a rapid response from Metropolitan Police Department Police Officers.
Police said Officers arrived at the scene within minutes and initiated an on-scene investigation. As a result of information gathered during the investigation, Police Officers were quickly able to locate the suspect nearby and place him into custody without further incident.
The juvenile suspect, identified only as a 14-year-old male from Northwest Washington, D.C., was subsequently arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including:
- Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun)
- Carrying a Pistol Without a License
- Possession of an Unregistered Firearm
Authorities have not released additional information regarding the victim's condition, and the identity of the juvenile suspect has not been disclosed due to his age.
The incident remains under investigation.
The arrest comes amid ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies throughout the District to address violent crime and illegal firearm possession.
