Elizabeth New Jersey Man Charged

ELIZABETH NEW JERSEY MAN HAS BEEN CHARGED IN CONNECTION TO THE OCTOBER 25, 2021 BOMB THREAT

     " Tiago Santana-Silva Has Been Charged With False Public Alarm & Terroristic Threats In Connection With A Bomb Threat At The Middlesex County Courthouse."

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ.- On Monday, February 14, 2022 Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone, Middlesex County Sheriff Mildred Scott and New Brunswick Police Director Anthony A. Caputo announced that an Elizabeth, New Jersey man has been Arrested and Charged in connection with a Bomb Threat made to The Superior Courthouse of Middlesex County.



     On October 25, 2021, The Middlesex County Sheriff's Department was made aware of Bomb Threat concerning The Superior Courthouse Complex located at 50 Paterson Street and 120 New Street in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The Courthouses and The Middlesex County Administration Building were intensively searched for Explosives. Following the comprehensive search, it was determined that neither The Courthouse Complex or County Administration Building contained any Explosive Devices.


     A investigation led by Detective Shadi Zaiton of The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office determined that Tiago Santana-Silva, 30, of Elizabeth, New Jersey was responsible for using a Fictitious Email Address to send Threat to Courthouse Staff.


     On Sunday, February 13, 2022, Mr. Santana-Silva was Arrested and Charged with One Count of Second Degree False Public Alarm as well as Third and Fourth Degree Counts of Terroristic Threats.


     Mr. Santana-Silva was processed on the Charges and remanded to The Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center, pending a Pretrial Detention Hearing which will be heard in Middlesex County State Superior Court.
