MOUNT HOLLY, NJ.- On Tuesday, July 20, 2021 Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina announced that a Grand Jury sitting in Burlington County has returned an indictment against a 29-year-old Willingboro resident for fatally shooting a man late last year outside of a house in the Township Millbrook Park neighborhood.

The Grand Jury indicted Kwacey Q. Owens on Charges of First Degree Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and Two Counts of Second Degree Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons.

The indictment was returned on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 and signed by First Assistant Prosecutor Philip S. Aronow. An arraignment will be scheduled in State Superior Court. Mr. Owens has been lodged in The Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly, New Jersey since his arrest in October of 2020.

The investigation began on October 8, 2020, after Members of The Willingboro Township Police Department responded to the First Block of Maplewick Lane at approximately 1:30 a.m. for a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, Police Officers found the body of Barry Barino, 28, outside the rear door of his home. Barino was pronounced deceased at the scene by The Burlington County Medical Examiner, a subsequent autopsy determined the cause and manner of death to homicide.

The ensuing investigation revealed that Mr. Barino and Mr. Owens were acquaintances, and that Owens had been inside the victims home before luring him outside to shoot him. The weapon used was a .45 Caliber Handgun which was recovered inside the residence where Owens had been staying.
