Kearny Man Arrested

KEARNY MAN NABBED IN PUERTO RICO FOR THE 2021 SEXUAL ASSAULT OF A 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL

KEARNY, NJ.- Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported that on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, Jose Alfredo Garcia, 31, was Arrested and taken into Custody at 7:50 p.m., in San German, Puerto Rico by Members of The United States Marshals Service, District of Puerto Rico Violent Fugitive Task Force, in conjunction with The United States Marshals Service, New York/ New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force. Mr. Garcia was Wanted for Sexually Assaulting a 14-Year-Old Girl in Kearny back in December of 2021.



     At the conclusion of an investigation by Members of The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit, Mr. Garcia was Charged with Two Counts of Second Degree Sexual Assault; Second Degree of Luring or Enticing a Child; Third Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and Fourth Degree Criminal Sexual Contact.


     Mr. Garcia was taken into Custody and Remanded to The Metropolitan Jail in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, pending his Extradition back to New Jersey.

DENVILLE, NJ.- Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll reported that Yesterday, March 23, 2023, Two Students were Arrested and taken into custody following an incident at Morris Knolls High School in Denville, New Jersey.



     On Thursday, March 23, 2023, Members of The Denville Police Department responded to Morris Knolls High School on a report from School Staff that 2 Students were in Possession of a Gun. The Police Department's School Resource Officer and Police Officers were on the scene within minutes.


     Upon arrival, Police Officers learned that the 2 Students were identified and secured by School Staff, as well as the Weapon. The Two Juveniles involved were subsequently Arrested and Charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Other Related Charges.


     There was no Active Threat to The School, Staff, or Students. Since the incident involved Juveniles, no further information was available. The investigation remains under investigation.


     The Safety and Security of all of Denville's Schools are of paramount importance to The Denville Police Department. There is no ongoing active or suspected threat to the school, its staff, or its students related to this incident. However, The Denville Police will have an increased presence at the school over the next few days to help alleviate any fears or concerns.

Restaurant Owner Convicted

UNION TOWNSHIP RESTAURANT OWNER CONVICTED OF SEXUAL OFFENSES AGAINST A TEEN GIRL

ELIZABETH, NJ.- Today, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel reported that a Union Township, New Jersey Restaurant Owner has been Convicted of Sexual Offenses against a Teen Girl.


     Following a Trial, a Jury sitting in Union County, New Jersey returned Guilty Verdicts on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, against Adam Yeung, 46, on the Charges of Third Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Fourth Degree Criminal Sexual Contact.


     The Verdicts stem from an Investigation that was initiated after reports were made to The Union Township Police Department. The ensuing investigation by Detective Gregory Mulholland determined that the Girl was Sexually Groped and Victimized by Mr. Yeung in 2021, while the Girl was Employed by Mr. Yeung. 


     "We are grateful for the thorough investigation from the Union Police Department that aided our Office in bringing this suspect to justice," Prosecutor Daniel said, upon hearing the verdict. " We hope this conviction can bring some small measure of comfort to the victim and her family."

Willingboro Man Convicted

WILLINGBORO MAN CONVICTED FOR THE EXECUTION MURDER OF LINDENWOLD WOMAN

     " Marvin A. Coleman Has Been Convicted For Luring A Woman For The Sale Of A Cell Phone, Instead Executing Her."

MOUNT HOLLY, NJ.- Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw reported that on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, a Jury sitting in Burlington County, New Jersey Convicted a Willingboro Township man of Murder in The Execution Style Shooting of a 21-Year-Old Lindenwold, New Jersey woman, while she sat in her car in The Millbrook Park Section of Willingboro Township.



     The Jury deliberated on Tuesday and Wednesday, for approximately Three Hours before returning Guilty Verdicts against Marvin A. Coleman, 24, on Charges of First Degree Felony Murder; First Degree Murder; First Degree Robbery; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. 


     The Investigation began on March 7, 2019, at approximately 8:30 a.m., after Members of The Willingboro Township Police Department responded to The First Block Medley Lane, for a report of a woman parked inside a car, unresponsive from an apparent Gunshot Wound.



     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a woman, later identified as Maribely Lopez, 21, Deceased in the Driver's Seat of her Ford Focus with the Engine still Running. The ensuing investigation determined The Shooting had occurred at approximately 11:00 p.m. on March 6, 2019.


     The investigation further determined that Mr. Coleman had made arrangements on March 6, 2019, through The Marketplace App OfferUp to Purchase a used Cell Phone from Ms. Lopez. The two agreed that Ms. Lopez would meet Mr. Coleman in front of a house on Medley Lane, which is a short walk through a field from Mr. Coleman's Residence on Marlboro Lane.


     But instead of Buying the Phone, Mr. Coleman Executed Ms. Lopez by Firing a Single Gunshot through a Partially Opened Driver's Side Window, Striking her in The Head.


     A subsequent Autopsy performed by The Burlington County Regional Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood determined the Cause of Death to be a Single Gunshot Wound to the Head and The Manner of Death to be Homicide.

Newark Men Charged

TWO NEWARK MEN CHARGED IN A 2020 NEWARK HOMICIDE 

     " Ibn Hill & Tyquan Zigler Have Been Arrested & Charged In The Shooting Death Of Jerry Works, Jr."

NEWARK, NJ.- On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II reported that following an Investigation, Ibn Hill, 22, and Tyquan Zigler, 27, both from Newark, New Jersey, have been Arrested and Charged in connection with The 2020 Shooting Death of Jerry Works, Jr., 50, of Newark, New Jersey.



     Following the Investigation by Members of The Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Task Force has Charged Mr. Hill with One Count of First Degree Murder; First Degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Mr. Zigler was Charged with First Degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder. Both men are in Custody in The Essex County Correctional Facility.



     Back on September 14, 2020, Members of The Newark Police Department Responded to The 100 Block of Brenner Street in Newark on a report of a Shooting. 


     Upon arrival, Police Officers found Mr. Works in a Common Hallway of a Building, suffering from a Gunshot Wound. Mr. Works was immediately transported to University Hospital in Newark where he succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased at 2:18 p.m. the same day.

Bridgeton Men Sentenced

TWO MORE ARE SENTENCED FOR THE 2018 TRAGIC SHOOTING DEATH OF A 9-YEAR-OLD GIRL

BRIDGTON, NJ.- Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae reported that on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, Michael Elliot, 30, and Zahmere McKoy, 23, both of Bridgeton, New Jersey were Sentenced to 30 Years in New Jersey State Prison, Pursuant to The No Early Release Act. 


     Both men were previously found Guilty on October 26, 2022, in Cumberland County State Superior Court on Charges of First Degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder; and Second Degree Reckless Manslaughter. 



     The Charges stem from an incident that occurred on July 17, 2018, in The City of Bridgeton, when 9-Year-Old Jennifer Trejo, was Struck and Killed by a Bullet that Ripped through the Bedroom Wall of her home on Church Street. Michael Elliot, Zahmere McKoy, along with Two Others, Leroy Frazier, and Charles Gamble were Charged with her Death.


     Leroy Frazier was previously Convicted in January 2020 on Charges of First Degree Aggravated Manslaughter; First Degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder; and Attempted Murder and was Sentenced to 42 Years in New Jersey State Prison. Charles Gamble Pled Guilty prior to the start of his Trial in August of 2022 to First Degree Aggravated Manslaughter, Mr. Gamble was Sentenced on March 13, 2023, to 13 Years in New Jersey State Prison, Pursuant to The No Early Release Act.

Pennsylvania Doctor Charged

LEHIGH VALLEY HEALTH NETWORK DOCTOR CHARGED WITH HAVING AN INAPPROPRIATE RELATIONSHIP

     " Moshe E. Markowitz, 47, Charged With Having An Inappropriate Relationship With A Warren County Teen Girl."

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ.- Warren County Authorities reported that Following a Joint Investigation by Members of The Warren County Prosecutor's Office, The Washington Township Police Department, with Assistance from The Allentown Police Department, and The Lehigh County District Attorney's Office, Moshe E. Markowitz, was Arrested and Charged in Warren County, New Jersey with a Child Endangerment Offense.



     Back in January of 2023, an investigation was initiated after a Student at Warren Hills Regional High School, located in Washington Township, New Jersey reported to The School Resource Officer that a Friend was involved in an Inappropriate Relationship with a 47-Year-Old Man.


     During the course of the investigation, Detectives were able to determine that a Minor Teen Girl had met Mr. Markowitz on The App, Omegel, which promotes the Ability to Speak to Strangers. Thereafter, Mr. Markowitz, using an Alias " Steven Jones," Engaged in Sexually Explicit Conversations with the Teen Girl, on The App, "Discord." Detectives were able to identify Mr. Markowitz as the individual involved in the Inappropriate Conversations.


     On Tuesday, March 14, 2023, Detectives Executed a Court Authorized Search Warrant on Mr. Markowitz's Residence, located at 660 Main Street in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Detectives Searched the Home and Seized Electronic Devices. A Forensic Analysis allowed Detectives to Uncover Online Chats that revealed Graphic Sexually Charged Conversations. 


     Detectives learned that Mr. Markowitz was a Practicing Pediatrician in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Employed by The Lehigh Valley Health Network. 


     As a Result of The Investigation, Mr. Markowitz was Formally Charged with One Count of Third Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, for Engaging in Conduct which would Impair or Debauch the Morals of a Child.

Arrest Made In Shooting

20-YEAR-OLD PASSAIC MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH MARCH 12, 2023 SHOOTING

PASSAIC, NJ.- Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Passaic Police Chief Luis A. Guzman reported that Following an Investigation by The Passaic Police Department, Elijah Ortiz, 20, of Passaic, New Jersey has been Arrested in connection to a Shooting that took place on March 12, 2023, in the area of 24 Martha Place in The City of Passaic.



     Mr. Ortiz has been Charged with Two Counts of First Degree Attempted Murder; One Count of Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and Two Counts of Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. 


     On March 12, 2023, at approximately 10:35 p.m., Members of The Passaic Police Department responded to the area of 24 Martha Place in Passaic, on a report of a Shooting.


      Upon arrival, Police Officers located a 21-Year-Old Passaic man suffering from a Non-Life Threatening Gunshot Wound and a 23-Year-Old Passaic man, who was not injured. The 21-Year-Old man was immediately transported to Saint Joseph's University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey for treatment.


     Based on the investigation, Detectives were able to identify Mr. Ortiz as the Shooter and a Warrant was issued for his Arrest. On Saturday, March 18, 2023, at approximately 12:00 p.m., Mr. Ortiz surrendered to Authorities at The Passaic Police Department located at 330 Passaic Street in Passaic.


     Mr. Ortiz was Processed on The Charges and Remanded to The Passaic County Jail. The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office has Filed a PreTrial Detention Motion, to have Mr. Ortiz Detained pending the outcome of the Charges Filed Against him. The hearing has been Scheduled for Thursday, March 23, 2023, in Passaic County State Superior Court.


     If Convicted on the Charges Mr. Ortiz will face a potential New Jersey State Prison Sentence of up to 20 Years.

Gloucester County Man Charged

WEST DEPTFORD MAN CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED SEX CRIMES FOR TRYING TO LURE A TEEN FOR SEX

     " Todd Merinuk Was Arrested By Mercer County Authorities In Internet Crimes Against Children Sting."

TRENTON, NJ.- Today, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported that following an investigation into Online Child Exploitation, a 27-Year-Old Gloucester County, New Jersey man has been Arrested and Charged with Multiple Attempted Sex Crimes.



     Todd Merinuk, 27, of West Deptford Township, New Jersey has been Charged with Two Counts of Second Degree Attempted Sexual Assault; Three Counts of Third Degree Attempted Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and One Count of Second Degree Attempted Luring. Mr. Merinuk was Processed on the Offenses and Remanded to The Mercer County Correctional Facility. The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office has Filed a PreTrial Detention Motion to Have Mr. Merinuk Detained pending the outcome of the Charges Against him.


     Three weeks ago, Detectives with The Prosecutor's Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit were investigating individuals trying to Exploit Children Online. Detectives connected with an individual, via an anonymous Social Media Platform. The individual, later identified as Mr. Merinuk, began Chatting with a Detective who was Posing as a 14-Year-Old Girl. The Chat included Multiple Sexually Explicit Messages, a Photo sent by Mr. Merinuk of an Adult Male Penis, and Statements by Mr. Merinuk that he wanted to meet in Person to Engage in Various Sexual Acts.


     On Thursday, March 16, 2023, Mr. Merinuk Arranged and Sent a Ride Share Vehicle to an Address in Mercer County to Pick Up the 14-Year-Old Girl, with whom Mr. Merinuk believed he was Chatting in order to Bring Her to his Location in Gloucester County. Believing the Girl had arrived at his location via the Ride Share, Mr. Merinuk appeared and was immediately Taken into Custody, by Members of The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office, Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office, and Members of The United States Homeland Security Investigations.


     If Convicted of Second Degree Offenses, Mr. Merinuk could face up to Five to Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison and a Fine of up to $150,000., and Third Degree Offenses carry a Sentence of Three to Five Years in Prison and a Fine of up to $15,000.

Onofri urges anyone with information about suspected improper contact by unknown persons communicating with Children via the Internet or the possible Exploitation or Sexual Abuse of Children to please contact his Internet Crimes Against Children Unit at (609) 989-6568 or The New Jersey Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force at (888) 648-6007.

Newark Woman Sentenced

NEWARK WOMAN SENTENCED TO STATE PRISON FOR DRIVE-BY SHOOTING DEATH

     " Chantal Mitchell Was Sentenced To Prison For Gunning Down Deitrick Mitchell In 2020."

NEWARK, NJ.- Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II reported that a 31-Year-Old Newark, New Jersey woman was on Friday, to 28-Years in New Jersey State Prison for the February 2020 Drive-By Shooting Death of Deitrick Mitchell outside Clinton Avenue Bodega.


     On Friday, March 17, 2023, Superior Court Judge Ronald D. Wigler Sentenced Chantal Mitchell, 31, of Newark, to 28 Years in State Prison Pursuant to The No Early Release Act. Ms. Mitchell on December 20, 2022, Pleaded Guilty to First Degree Aggravated Manslaughter; First Degree Aggravated Assault; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. During the Plea, Ms. Mitchell admitted to Shooting Two People and Killing One of Them, in Exchange for The New Jersey State Prison Sentence.


     On February 10, 2022, Ms. Mitchell opened Fire on Two People standing in front of a Bodega, located at 139 Clinton Avenue in Newark. Ms. Mitchell had argued with Several Men outside the Bodega prior to the Shooting. Mitchell left in her car after the argument but returned just minutes later, Firing Multiple Shots toward the Bodega's Entrance as she drove through the Parking Lot. Deitrick Mitchell was Fatally Struck by Gunfire, and a Second Victim sustained a Non-Life Threatening Gunshot Wound.


     " This was a tragic ending to a verbal argument and highlights the dangers of gun violence in our community," said Assistant Prosecutor Austin Edwards, who prosecuted the case. " I hope this sentence will provide some closure to Deitrick's family."

New Brunswick Shooting

SUSPECT ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH THURSDAY'S NEW BRUNSWICK SHOOTING

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ.- The investigation continues into a Thursday, March 16, 2023, Shooting on Lee Avenue Shooting that injured a Man, according to Middlesex County Authorities.


     On Thursday, March 16, 2023, at approximately 11:07 a.m., Members of The New Brunswick Police Department responded to Lee Avenue near the intersection of Delavan Street on a report of a Shooting. Upon arrival, Police Officers learned that the man was transported to the Hospital after Flagging Down a passerby.


     The ensuing investigation led by Detective Kevin Schroeck of The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office and Detective Brandt Gregus of The New Brunswick Police Department determined that the Man had been Shot by Janai Martinez of New Brunswick, New Jersey. 


     Later in the day on Thursday, Mr. Martinez was Arrested and Charged in connection with the Shooting. Detectives further determined that the Man and Mr. Martinez were known to each other prior to the Shooting.

Manchester Fatal Fire Investigation

A WOMAN PERISHES AND ANOTHER WOMAN REMAINS HOSPITALIZED AFTER A SUNDAY EVENING FIRE

    " Ocean County Authorities Are Investigating A Sunday Evening House Fire In Manchester."

MANCHESTER, NJ.- On Monday, March 20, 2023, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer reported that Investigators of The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Arson Unit are actively investigating a Manchester Township, New Jersey House Fire that has Claimed the Life of a Woman and has left another Woman Hospitalized in Critical Condition.



     On Sunday, March 19, 2023, Members of The Manchester Police Department and The Manchester Fire Department responded to a residence located on Heron Street in Manchester on a report of a Fire.


     Upon arrival, First responders found a Fully Working Structure Fire. First Responders were able to Rescue a Woman from the Fire. The Woman was immediately transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River, New Jersey, where she is listed in Critical Condition. During the initial Search of the Structure, the Body of a deceased Woman was discovered. The Woman's Body was also transported to Community Medical Center for Identification and autopsy.


     During the Fire, Three Manchester Township Police Officers were injured and were transported to The Medical Center for treatment for Smoke Inhalation. The Origin and Cause of The Fire are pending findings of The Ocen County Prosecutor's Office Arson Unit.

ATLANTIC COUNTY AUTHORITIES ARE INVESTIGATING SATURDAY MORNING SHOOTING DEATH

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ.- A suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the early Saturday morning Shoot Death of a man in Atlantic City, New Jersey, according to Authorities.


     On Saturday, March 18, 2023, at approximately 1:55 a.m., Members of The Atlantic City Police Department responded to The 1900 Block of Boardwalk in Atlantic City on a report of a Shooting. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man unresponsive from a Gunshot Wound. The man was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.


     The identity of the man has not been released pending notification of the next of kin. Atlantic County Authorities have Arrested a Suspect in connection with the Fatal Shooting of this man.

NEWARK, NJ.- Essex County Homicide Task Force are continuing their investigation into the Death of a 43-Year-Old Newark man, who was found unresponsive Friday, Evening, according to The Essex County Prosecutor's Office.


     On Friday, March 17, 2023, just around 7:00 p.m., Members of The Newark Police Department responded to The 100 Block of North Munn Avenue in Newark on a report of an Assault. 


     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Amin Abdul-Aziz, 43, of Newark, suffering from injuries. Mr. Abdul-Aziz was immediately transported to University Hospital in Newark where he succumbed to his injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased at 7:48 p.m.

ROCKAWAY, NJ.- On Friday, March 17, 2023, Morris County Authorities reported that a 27-Year-Old Rockaway Township Youth Baseball Coach and Substitute Teacher at The Catherine A. Dwyer Elementary School was Arrested and Charged with Sexual Crimes.



     Joseph Derose, 27, of Rockaway Township, New Jersey was Arrested on Thursday, March 16, 2023, and was Charged on Two Separate Complaints from Rockaway Township and Rockaway Borough. Each complaint Charges Mr. Derose, Jr. with Two Counts of Second Degree Sexual Assault with Supervisory or Disciplinary Power Over the Victim; One Count of Third Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and Two Counts of Fourth Degree Criminal Sexual Contact.


     It has been Alleged that Mr. Derose, Jr. had an Inappropriate Sexual Relationship with a 16-Year-Old Boy from May 2021 through January 2022, while Derose, Jr. was his Baseball Coach for various Recreational and School-Related Teams, during that time period. The Alleged Assaults took place at Mr. Derose, Jr.'s Home, The Boy's Home, Oak Meadows Field, and Fitness Factory Gym. The relationship ended when the Boy was 17-Years-Old. 


     Mr. Derose, Jr. was Processed on the Charges and Remanded to The Morris County Correctional Facility. The Morris County Prosecutor's Office has Filed a Pretrial Detention Motion to have Derose, Jr. Detained pending the outcome of the Charges Filed Against him. The Detention Hearing has been Scheduled for Wednesday, March 22, 2023, in Morris County State Superior Court.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ.- Middlesex County Authorities reported on Saturday, March 18, 2023, that a Man has been Arrested and Charged in connection with a February 19, 2023, Rape of a Woman during a House Party in New Brunswick, New Jersey.


     Following an investigation, Luke Moorehouse was Arrested by Detectives and Charged with One Count of First Degree Kidnapping; One Count of Second Degree Sexual Assault; and One Count of Fourth Degree Criminal Sexual Contact. Mr. Moorehouse was Processed on the Charges and remanded to The Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending his First Appearance.


     On February 19, 2023, a woman reported to Members of The New Brunswick Police Department that she was Sexually Assaulted by an Unknown Man while attending a House Party at an Easton Avenue residence in New Brunswick, New Jersey.


      A swift-moving investigation by Members of The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit in conjunction with Detectives of The New Brunswick Police Department were able to Identify Mr. Moorehouse as a Suspect and the Individual that Committed the Sexual Assault of the woman.

PASSAIC, NJ.- Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Passaic Police Chief Luis A. Guzman reported that Detective are continuing to search for a Suspect in the Thursday Afternoon Gunpoint Robbery of a local business.



     On Thursday, March 16, 2023, at just before 6:00 p.m., Members of The Passaic Police Department responded to a Business located on Main Avenue near the intersection of Van Houten in Passaic on a report of an Armed Robbery where Shots Were Fired. 


     Upon arrival, Police Officers located Four People, a 38-Year-Old Clifton, New Jersey resident, a 19-Year-Old Passaic woman, a 37-Year-Old Passaic woman, and an 18-Year-Old Passaic resident, who were all Robbed at Gunpoint. During the Robbery, the Suspect Fired Shots, but none of the victims were Struck, when the Gun was Discharged.


     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No Arrests have been made and Authorities continue to search for a Suspect. More information may become available, once released by Authorities.

CAMDEN, NJ.- Camden County Authorities reported, that Detectives are continuing to investigate a late Friday Night Shooting that has Claimed the Life of a 23-Year-Old Sicklerville, New Jersey man.


     On Friday, March 17, 2023, at approximately 10:54 p.m., Members of The Camden County Police Department responded to The 1300 Block of Fairview Street in Camden on a report of a Shooting. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Naseer Bryant, 23, of Sicklerville, New Jersey, suffering from Multiple Gunshot Wounds.


     Mr. Bryant was immediately transported to Cooper University Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased at 11:16 p.m.


     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No Arrests have been made at this time. NEWARK, NJ.- The Essex County Homicide Task Force is continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the Fatal Stabbing of a 52-Year-Old Newark man that occurred on Friday Night on South Orange Avenue in Newark, according to The Essex County Prosecutor's Office.


     On Friday, March 17, 2023, at approximately 8:29 p.m., Members of The Newark Police Department responded to The 800 Block of South Orange Avenue in Newark, on a report of a Stabbing.


     Upon arrival, Police Officer found a man, later identified as Sharod Gully, 52, of Newark, suffering from an apparent Stab Wound. Mr. Gully was immediately transported to University Hospital where he succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased around 9:21 p.m.

HACKENSACK, NJ.- On Thursday, March 16, 2023, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella reported, that a 27-Year-Old Hackensack Delivery Driver was taken into Custody and Charged with Child Pornography Offenses.


     Following an Investigation into Internet Crimes Against Children, Members of The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Cyber Crimes Unit Executed a Court Authorized Search Warrant at the residence of Jonah E. Llull, 27, of Hackensack, New Jersey. The investigation determined that Mr. Llull used the Internet to View, Download, Posses, and Distrubute Images depicting Nude or Sexual Explicit Prepubescent Children.


     Accordingly, on Thursday, Mr. Llull, was Arrested at The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office in Paramus, New Jersey and Formally Charged with One Count of Second Degree Distribution of Child Pornography; and One Count of Third Degree Possession of Child Pornography.


     Mr. Llull was Processed on the Charges and Remanded to The Bergen County Jail, pending a First Appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.

Newark New Jersey Man Sentenced

JUDGE SENTENCES NEWARK MAN TO 106 YEARS IN PRISON FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING TWO TEEN GIRLS

     " Thomas Crandell Sentenced To 106 Years In State Prison For Continuingly Sexually Assaulting His Stepdaughters For Over 3 Years."

NEWARK, NJ.- Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens reported on Thursday, that a 53-Year-Old Newark, New Jersey man has been Sentenced to 106 Years in New Jersey State Prison for Sexually Assaulting his Stepdaughters over 3 Years.



     The Honorable Verna G. Leath, J.S.C. Sentenced Thomas Crandell, 53, Of Newark to a Term of 106 Years in Prison Pursuant to The No Early Release Act, which will require Mr. Crandell to Serve 85% of his Custodial Term before becoming eligible for Parole. If released Mr. Crandell will be subject to Parole Supervision for Life and will be required to Register as a Sex Offender under Megan's Law Requirements.


     On October 31, 2022, following a Trial before Judge Leath, an Essex County Jury returned Guilty Verdicts on all 26 Counts of the Indictment, which included Five Counts of First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; Fourteen Counts of Second Degree Sexual Assault; Four Counts of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; Two Counts of Third Degree Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact; and One Count of Fourth Degree Sexual Contact.


     Mr. Crandell began Sexually Assaulting one of the Girls when she was 14 Years Old and continued until she was 17 Years Old when the Crimes were reported, according to Assistant Prosecutor Nicole Buermann. Crandell went on to Sexually Assault the Girl's Younger Sister in 2018 when she was 14 Years Old.


     " The sentence imposed by the court yesterday sends a clear message that the sexual abuse of children will not be tolerated," added Buermann, who tried the case along with Assistant Prosecutor Dana Kutzleb. " We are satisfied that justice was served and the judge's sentence will provide the victims with a sense of peace and closure."
