MOUNT HOLLY, NJ.- Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw reported that on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, a Jury sitting in Burlington County, New Jersey Convicted a Willingboro Township man of Murder in The Execution Style Shooting of a 21-Year-Old Lindenwold, New Jersey woman, while she sat in her car in The Millbrook Park Section of Willingboro Township.
The Jury deliberated on Tuesday and Wednesday, for approximately Three Hours before returning Guilty Verdicts against Marvin A. Coleman, 24, on Charges of First Degree Felony Murder; First Degree Murder; First Degree Robbery; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
The Investigation began on March 7, 2019, at approximately 8:30 a.m., after Members of The Willingboro Township Police Department responded to The First Block Medley Lane, for a report of a woman parked inside a car, unresponsive from an apparent Gunshot Wound.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a woman, later identified as Maribely Lopez, 21, Deceased in the Driver's Seat of her Ford Focus with the Engine still Running. The ensuing investigation determined The Shooting had occurred at approximately 11:00 p.m. on March 6, 2019.
The investigation further determined that Mr. Coleman had made arrangements on March 6, 2019, through The Marketplace App OfferUp to Purchase a used Cell Phone from Ms. Lopez. The two agreed that Ms. Lopez would meet Mr. Coleman in front of a house on Medley Lane, which is a short walk through a field from Mr. Coleman's Residence on Marlboro Lane.
But instead of Buying the Phone, Mr. Coleman Executed Ms. Lopez by Firing a Single Gunshot through a Partially Opened Driver's Side Window, Striking her in The Head.
A subsequent Autopsy performed by The Burlington County Regional Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood determined the Cause of Death to be a Single Gunshot Wound to the Head and The Manner of Death to be Homicide.
