One Dead, One Critical In Wednesday's Carteret Shooting

Two Women Shot, One Fatally & One Remains In Critical Condition After  Being Targeted In A Carteret Shooting

CARTERET, NJ.- Middlesex County Authorities are continuing their investigation into a Wednesday morning shooting that has tragically claimed the life of a Carteret, New Jersey woman and has left another Carteret woman hospitalized fighting for her life.


     According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, shortly after 9:00 a.m., members of the Carteret Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting multiple shots being fired on Roosevelt Avenue in Carteret. 



     Upon arrival, Police Officers found two female victims, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Both women were airlifted to the hospital in critical condition. Despite life-saving efforts, one of the women succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased. The other woman remains hospitalized in critical condition.


     The gunman had remained at large until just around 4:00 p.m. today when Police Officers apprehended him in the Carteret area.


     The names of the victims and the suspect have not been released by the Prosecutor's Office, as authorities continue to investigate what led to the events surrounding the shooting.
