POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ.- On Monday, June 10, 2024, Salvatore Umek, 46, of Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, and former treasurer of the Point Pleasant Beach Fire Company Number 2, appeared in Ocean County Superior Court and entered a guilty plea on a charge of Theft before the Honorable Dina M. Vicari, J.S.C.
According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. After monies were found to be missing from the Fire Company's bank accounts, an investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and the Point Pleasant Beach Police Department determined that between February 2019 and November 2021, Umek, as treasurer unlawfully transferred approximately $100,000 from the Fire Company's bank account to pay off a personal credit card. Umek also transferred a sum of money directly into his personal bank account and used the money for his own expenses.
