BREAKING: UPDATE: Arrests In June 2023 Elizabeth Shooting Homicide

PAIR CHARGED WITH THE JUNE 26th SHOOTING THAT KILLED ONE AND LEFT A WOMAN AND TODDLER INJURED

     " Union County Authorities Have Charged A 33-Year-Old Newark Man & A 31-Year-Old Elizabeth Man With Murder & Weapons Offenses."

ELIZABETH, NJ.- Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel reported that on Friday, September 1, 2023, a 33-Year-Old Newark, New Jersey man and a 31-Year-Old Elizabeth, New Jersey man were Arrested and Charged in connection with a Shooting that Claimed the Life of a 28-Year-Old Roselle, New Jersey man and left a 23-Year-Old woman and a 3-Year-Old girl hospitalized from Gunshot Wounds.


     On Monday, June 26, 2023, at just around 8:30 p.m., Members of The Elizabeth Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting Multiple People Shot in The 600 Block of Salem Avenue in The City of Elizabeth.


     Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered a Vehicle with Three Occupants, a Man, a 23-year-old Woman, and a 3-Year-Old Girl all suffering from Multiple Gunshot Wounds. The Man, Later identified as Guerley Edouard, 28, of Roselle, New Jersey was immediately transported to Trinitas Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased. The 23-Year-Old Woman and The 3-Year-Old Girl were both immediately transported to University Hospital in Newark for Treatment.


     A Joint Investigation by Members of The Union County Homicide Task Force in conjunction with The Elizabeth Police Department, Union County Sheriff's Office Crimes Scene Unit, and The Union County Police Ballistics Unit led to Walter Daniels, 33, of Newark, New Jersey, and Devon Gray, 31, of Elizabeth, New Jersey as Suspects and the Individuals responsible for The Shooting Death of Mr. Edouard and Shooting of The Woman and Child.


     Accordingly, on Friday, September 1, 2023, Mr. Daniels and Mr. Gray were Taken into Custody, and each Charged with First Degree Murder; Two Counts of First Degree Attempted Murder; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.


     If Convicted on The Charges, both Mr. Daniels and Mr. Gray will Face a Term of Life in New Jersey State Prison.
