BREAKING: Gunfire Returns To Paterson, New Jersey

ONE DEAD, EIGHT INJURED AS GUNFIRE RETURNS TO PATERSON STREETS OVER LABOR DAY WEEKEND

     " 5 Separate Shootings In Paterson, New Jersey Shootings Over Labor Day Weekend Leaves 1 Dead & 8 Hospitalized."

PATERSON, NJ.- After a brief relief from the senseless violence that has Paterson, New Jersey Streets, Gunfire once again breaks out over The Labor Day Weekend. From last Wednesday Night through Monday Evening Five Separate Shootings have Killed a Man and Left Eight others Hospitalized.


     Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdez and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi released the following.


     On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at approximately 8:40 p.m., Members of The Paterson Police Department responded to the area of 12th Avenue and East 23rd Street in Paterson on a report of a Shooting. Upon arrival, Police Officers located Shell Casings and Evidence of a Crime Scene. While canvassing the area Police Officers were notified that a 25-Year-Old Paterson resident and a 19-year-old Paterson man had arrived at Saint Joseph's University Medical Center seeking treatment for Non-Life Threatening Gunshot Wounds.


     On Sunday, September 3, 2023, just around 2:40 a.m., Members of The Paterson Police Department responded to the area of Union Avenue and Jasper Street in The City of Paterson on a report of Multiple Gunshots. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a 28-Year-Old Elmwood Park resident and were informed of a Second Gunshot Victim, a 33-Year-Old Paterson man, both suffering from Gunshot Wounds. The two were immediately transported to Saint Joseph's University Medical Center for treatment for Non-Life Threatening Gunshot Wounds. Police Officers located a Crime Scene in the area. While investigating Police Officers were notified that a 29-Year-Old Paterson man had arrived at Saint Joseph's University Medical Center by way of a Private Vehicle seeking treatment for a Non-Life Threatening Gunshot Wounds.


     Just three hours later, on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at approximately 5:37 a.m., Members of The Paterson Police Department responded to the area of Route 19 and Ward Street in The City of Paterson on a report of an Unresponsive man parked in a Vehicle. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man inside a Vehicle Dead from a Gunshot Wound to his Head the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.


     On Monday, September 4, 2023, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Members of The Paterson Police Department responded to Saint Joseph's University Medical Center after being notified by Hospital Staff that a 23-Year-Old Paterson man had arrived there seeking treatment for Multiple Non-Life Threatening Gunshot Wounds. During the preliminary investigation, Police Officers were able to determine that the man was Shot in the area of 22nd Avenue and Market Street in Paterson, New Jersey.


     Later in the evening, On Monday, September 4, 2023, just minutes before 7:00 p.m., Members of The Paterson Police Department to the area of Lawrence and Mercer Streets in The City of Paterson on a report of a Shooting. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a 23-Year-Old Paterson man who had sustained a Non-Life Threatening Gunshot Wound. The man was transported to Saint Joseph's University Medical Center for treatment. Prior to the report of this Shooting, The Paterson Police Department was notified of Shots Fired in the area of Godwin Avenue and Rosa Parks Boulevard in The City of Paterson. Police Officers responded and located Shell Casings at the location.


     The investigations in all Five Shootings remain active and ongoing. No arrests have been made.
