42-Year-Old Lodi Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting A Child Under The Age Of 13

LODI, NJ.- A 42-year-old Lodi, New Jersey man was taken into custody yesterday and charged with sexually assaulting a child under the age of thirteen on at least two occasions in Lodi, New Jersey and Passaic, New Jersey.


     According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a child.



     A swift-moving joint investigation by Detectives of the Bergen County Special Victims Unit and the Lodi Police Department quickly determined that Jose F. Villanueva, 42, of Lodi, New Jersey sexually assaulted a child, under the age of thirteen, in Lodi, New Jersey and Passaic, New Jersey, when Villanueva had a supervisory role over the child.


     Accordingly, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, Villanueva was taken into custody at the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office in Paramus, New Jersey, and was formally charged with first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; second-degree Sexual Assault by Sexual Contact; and second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.


     Villanueva was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey. 


"The rules of the court requires us to include a statement, that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt."
