New Jersey American Water Field Worker Killed & 3 Others Injured After A Car Struck Them In Work Zone

MAGNOLIA, NJ.- Detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Wednesday morning's motor vehicle crash that killed one and left multiple pedestrians hospitalized after a car struck a curb and ran into an active roadway work zone in Magnolia, New Jersey.
According to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay, on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, just shortly before 10:00 a.m., members of the Magnolia Police Department responded to the 500 Block of White Horse Pike following receiving a 911 Emergency Call reporting a serious motor vehicle crash involving numerous pedestrians in an active work zone.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found multiple people injured in the roadway, during the initial investigation Police Officers determined that the northbound right lane of White Horse Pike was shut down for active road repair. A vehicle that was traveling on White Horse Pike struck a curb, a bush and struck four New Jersey American Water company employees who had been installing a new water meter pit. The vehicle continued driving and crashed into two other motor vehicles. One vehicle was traveling north on White Horse Pike, and the second vehicle was traveling south on the pike.
One of the New Jersey American Water Company employees a man, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene, a second male New Jersey American Water employee was transported to Cooper University Hospital and was listed in critical condition. Two other male employees were transported to Jefferson Hospital for minor injuries.
The woman who struck the four workers and then struck the two other vehicles along with the other vehicle's drivers were also transported to Jefferson Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. It is unclear if any charges have been filed at this time.
