WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ.- Today, a 24-year-old Wall Township, New Jersey man remains jailed after being charged last Thursday in connection with the brutal machete attack of his girlfriend in the parking lot of a Wall Township apartment complex.

According to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago, the charges stem from an investigation that unfolded on Thursday, May 23, 2024, when just shortly before 9:30 a.m., members of the Wall Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a woman being attacked in the parking lot of the Glen Oaks Apartment Complex in Wall Township.

Upon arrival, Police Officers found a woman suffering from multiple serious injuries. The woman was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and was listed in critical condition.

A swift-moving investigation by Detectives of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Bureau and the Wall Township Police Department were able to identify Alex J. Williams, 24, of Wall Township, New Jersey, as the perpetrator and the individual responsible for repeatedly striking the woman multiple times with a machete while the woman's child was nearby.

Accordingly, on Thursday, May 23, 2024, Williams was taken into custody without incident and formally charged with one count of first-degree Attempted Murder; one count of second-degree Endangering The Welfare of a Child; and one count of third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

Following being processed on the charges, Williams was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution, where jail records show he still remains detained pending future court proceedings in Monmouth County Superior Court in Freehold, New Jersey.

"The rules of the court requires us to include a statement, that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt."
