BRIDGETON, NJ.- Yesterday, a Cumberland Superior Court Judge sentenced a 39-year-old Bridgeton, New Jersey man to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison in connection with the decade-long sexual assault of a child that began when the child was under the age of thirteen.
According to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae, following an investigation by the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office and the New Jersey State Police, on April 24, 2022, Juan Hernandez-Antonio, 39, of Bridgeton, New Jersey was taken into custody and charged with multiple counts of first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; second-degree Sexual Assault; and second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
On February 12, 2024, Hernandez-Antonio appeared in Cumberland County Superior Court and pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault. In return for the guilty plea, and to spare the victim the trauma of a trial the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office would recommend that Hernandez-Antonio be sentenced to 10 years in State Prison.
On Friday, May 31, 2024, Hernandez-Antonio was sentenced to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison subject to the No Early Release Act that will require Hernandez-Antonio to serve 85% of his custodial sentence before becoming eligible for parole. The Judge also ordered that Hernandez-Antonio register as a sex offender according to Megan's Law requirements and be on parole supervision for life.
