One Dead And One Injured In Jersey City Double Shooting

Early Tuesday Morning Shooting In Jersey City Has Killed One And Hospitalized Another

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- Today, Hudson County Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding a Jersey City double shooting that has claimed the life of a 24-year-old Jersey City man and has left a 23-year-old Jersey City man hospitalized after gunfire erupted early Tuesday morning on a quiet Jersey City Street.


     According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, shortly after 12:40 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting multiple shots fired in the area of College Street and Audubon Avenue in Jersey City.



     Upon arrival, Police Officers found an extensive crime scene, and a man, identified as David Jones, 24, of Jersey City, New Jersey, on the ground at 1 College Street suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound to his chest. Mr. Jones was immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he tragically succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased an hour later.


     A second person, a 23-year-old Jersey City, New Jersey man was located nearby having sustained a gunshot wound to his upper arm. The man was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he is being treated for his injury.


     The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this case.
