68-YEAR-OLD ELIZABETH MAN CHARGED ON WEDNESDAY WITH MULTIPLE SEX CRIMES ON MINORS
"Luis Pauta Matute Has Been Charged In Connection With Sexually Assaulting Two Children Over 7-Years."

ELIZABETH, NJ.- A 68-Year-Old Elizabeth, New Jersey man will learn whether he will remain Detained Pending Trial, when he faces a Union County Superior Court Judge Today, following being Taken into Custody and Charged last Wednesday for Allegedly Sexually Assaulting Two Children for over Seven Years between 2013 and 2021.
According to Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel, following an investigation, Luis Paute Matute, "Don Luis", 68, of Elizabeth, New Jersey was Formally Charged on Wednesday with Four Counts of First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; Three Counts of Second Degree Sexual Assault; and Three Counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
The Charges stem from an investigation that began when Members of The Union County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit were contacted by The Roselle Police Department in December 2023, and The Kenilworth Police Department in March 2024, regarding The Alleged Sexual Assaults of Two Children that began in 2013 through 2021. After interviewing Witnesses including The Victims, Detectives determined that Luis Paute Matute Sexually Assaulted Two Children.
Accordingly, Mr. Matute was Taken into Custody on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and Charged. After being Processed on The Charges Matute was Transported to The Essex County Correctional Facility.
The Union County Prosecutor's Office Filed a Pretrial Detention Motion upon his Arrest, which will be heard Today in Union County Superior Court. If The Judge Grants The State's Motion, Matute will remain Detained Pending Trial.
