22-YEAR-OLD BRONX NEW YORK MAN CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH A EDGEWATER ARMED ROBBERY

EDGEWATER, NJ.- Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella reported, that on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, following an Extensive Months-Long Investigation, Jose A. Santana Torres, 22, of Bronx, New York was Formally Charged with Robbery and Weapons Offenses in connection with an Edgewater Armed Robbery that occurred in October 2023.
According to Authorities, on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, shortly after 3:00 p.m., Members of The Edgewater Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call Reporting an Armed Robbery on River Road in Edgewater,
Upon arrival, Police Officers learned that Two Suspects approached an Individual at a Shopping Center, Pulled Out a Handgun, and Stole the Individual's Watch while a Lookout Stood by. Following Robbing the Individual, the Suspects Fled the area in Separate Motor Vehicles that were being Driven by other men who were waiting nearby.
Following The Robbery, The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Special Investigations Squad was notified and a joint investigation was launched. Investigators determined that the victim was most likely followed by The Suspects from Hudson County, New Jersey, to Edgewater where the Robbery took place.
As previously reported, on March 1, 2024, after a Months-Long Investigation, Detectives of The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Arrested and Charged Five Suspects in connection with The Edgewater Robbery, as well as other Armed Robberies. Detectives during further investigation determined that Jose A. Santana Torres was also involved in The Armed Robbery Ring, and participated in The Edgewater Robbery.
Accordingly, on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, Santana Torres was Formally Charged with First Degree Armed Robbery; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Third Degree Theft; Fourth Degree Aggravated Assault; and Second Degree Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery.
Santana Torres was Served with The Warrant Complaint at The Westchester County Jail where he is being detained on an unrelated matter and will be extradited back to New Jersey upon his release.
