57-YEAR-OLD PENNSYLVANIA WOMAN CONVICTED FOR KILLING HER 87-YEAR-OLD FATHER AND HIS FRIEND

TOMS RIVER, NJ.- Following a Four Week Trial, a Jury sitting in Ocean County, New Jersey Returned Guilty Verdicts against Sherry Lee Hefferman, 57, of Landenberg, Pennsylvania, in connection with The October 3, 2021, Savage Murders of her 87-Year-Old Father, John Enders, and her Father's Friend, 75-Year-Old Francoise Pitoy inside their Surf City, New Jersey Home.
On Friday, March 1, 2024, The Jury Returned Guilty Verdicts, Convicting Ms. Hefferman of The Charges of Two Counts of First Degree Murder; Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, a Handgun; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, a Handgun; Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, a Knife; and Fourth Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, a Knife.
The Jury determined beyond a reasonable doubt that Ms. Hefferman was Guilty of using the Handgun and the Knife in the commission of The Murders of Mr. Enders and Ms. Pitoy. Hefferman will be Sentenced by Judge Rahill on May 10, 2024, in Ocean County Superior Court at which time Hefferman will Face Life in New Jersey State Prison.
The Conviction stems from an incident, when on October 3, 2021, at around 4:00 p.m., Members of The Surf City Police Department responded to a Home located on North 7th Street in Surf City to conduct a Welfare Check.
Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered the deceased bodies of John Enders, 87, of Surf City, and Francoise Pitoy, 75, of Manchester. On October 4, 2021, The Ocean County Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on Mr. Enders and determined The Cause of Death to be Multiple Stab Wounds and Blunt Force Trauma and The Manner of Death to be Homicide.
On October 5, 2021, The Ocean County Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on Ms. Pitoy and determined The Cause of Death to be Multiple Stab Wounds and a Gunshot Wound to her Face, and The Manner of Death to be Homicide. Based on The Gunshot Wound to Ms. Pitoy, The Medical Examiner performed an additional examination of Mr. Enders, and found that he also suffered a Gunshot Wound to his Face.
A Swift-Moving Investigation by Ocean County Authorities revealed that Mr. Enders and Ms. Pitoy were involved in a Dating Relationship. Mr. Enders was the owner of the residence and Ms. Pitoy stayed with him regularly. Further investigation determined that Hefferman, Mr. Enders' Daughter was responsible for The Deaths of Mr. Enders and Ms.Pitoy.
On October 4, 2021, Ms. Hefferman was Taken into Custody by Members of The Pennsylvania State Police at her residence in Landenberg, Pennsylvania. On October 20, 2021, Hefferman was returned to New Jersey and has been lodged in The Ocean County Jail, since that date.
