TWO INDICTED ON CHARGES FOR THE SHOOTING OF A MAN DURING A ROBBERY AT THE ROXBURY MOTEL

ROXBURY, NJ.- A 24-Year-Old Irvington, New Jersey woman and a 33-Year-Old Orange, New Jersey man were Indicted on Charges by a Morris County Grand Jury in connection with The Shooting of a man at The Roxbury Motel on October 18, 2023.
According to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, a Grand Jury sitting in Morris County, New Jersey returned an Indictment against Auraceli A. Maldonado, 24, of Irvington, New Jersey, and Jean Omar Rockson, 33, of Orange, New Jersey on The Charges of Three Counts of First Degree Robbery; Second Degree Conspiracy to Commit Robbery; One Count of Second Degree Aggravated Assault; One Count of Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Third Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
Rockson and Maldonado remain lodged in The Morris County Correctional Facility. The Two have been Scheduled to be Arraigned on The Charges on March 11, 2024.
The Charges stem from an incident, when on October 18, 2023, shortly before 9:00 p.m., Members of The Roxbury Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a Shooting at The Roxbury Motel located on Route 46 in Roxbury Township. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man suffering from a Serious Gunshot Wound to his Leg. The 36-Year-Old man was immediately transported to an area Hospital for treatment.
A subsequent investigation by Morris County Authorities determined that the man had planned to meet with Rockson at The Motel. On the date of the incident, Surveillance Video captured a Honda Accord with New York License Plates arriving at The Motel Parking Lot, and Rockson and Maldonado exiting the Honda Accord. It is alleged that Rockson and Maldonado met with the man and that Maldonado was Armed with an AR-Style Rifle during the meeting. It is further alleged that Rockson and Maldonado Robbed the man, who was shot in the Leg during a Struggle for the Rifle.
Detectives of The Morris County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and The Roxbury Township Police Department were able to identify both Rockson and Maldonado as Suspects. Maldonado was Taken into Custody in November 2023, and Rockson was Taken into Custody on February 15, 2024, outside of his Orange, New Jersey Residence.
