Bayonne High School Teacher Charged For Physically Assaulting Student

BAYONNE, NJ.- Today, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported, that on Friday, March 1, 2024, a 68-Year-Old Bayonne High School Teacher who has been on Administrative Leave was Formally Charged in connection with an incident that occurred on Bayonne High School Property on Monday, January 22, 2024.



     Joseph Mingoia, 68, of Bayonne, New Jersey is Charged with Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and a Disorderly Persons Offense of Simple Assault. Mingoia was Arrested at The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office in Secaucus, New Jersey. 


     He was Processed on The Charges and was Released on a Summons pending a First Appearance in Hudson County Central Judicial Processing Court, which has been Scheduled for March 22, 2024, in Jersey City, New Jersey.


     The Charges stem from an incident when on Monday, January 22, 2024, Two Students were involved in an altercation on High School Property. After Multiple Staff Members intervened and attempted to break up the Altercation, Mingoia Struck a Female Student in the Head with a Closed Hand.
