37-YEAR-OLD ASBURY PARK MAN CONVICTED IN THE 2023 STABBING EX-GIRLFRIEND WITH BOX CUTTER

FREEHOLD, NJ.- A 37-Year-Old Asbury Park, New Jersey man was Found Guilty by a Monmouth County Jury for The Stabbing of his Ex-Girlfriend back in March 2023.
According to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago, following a weeklong Trial before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Jill G. O'Malley that concluded on Friday, March 8, 2024, The Jury found Amando Miguel-Ortiz, 37, of Asbury Park Guilty on The Charges of First Degree Attempted Murder; Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Fourth Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
The Conviction stems from an incident, when on Monday, March 6, 2023, at 5:15 p.m., Members of The Asbury Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an Assault at a Residence located on The 600 Block of Second Avenue in Asbury Park.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a Female Victim, identified as the Mother of Miguel-Ortiz's Child, suffering from Stab Wounds to her Stomach and the back of her Head. She was immediately transported to a nearby Hospital for treatment. Within minutes Police Officers located Miguel-Ortiz outside a home on The 400 Block of Langford Street, and he was Taken into Custody without incident.
The investigation by Members of The Asbury Police Department determined that the mother of Miguel-Ortiz's Child was cooking at a friend's home when Miguel-Ortiz entered the residence armed with a Utility Knife and Stabbed her in The Stomach before Grabbing her by The Hair and Stabbing her in the Back of The Head. The Victim's Friend intervened, at which time Miguel-Ortiz Fled the Residence.
Miguel-Ortiz has been incarcerated at The Monmouth County Correctional Institution since his arrest. Sentencing in the matter has been Scheduled for Friday, May 10, 2024, at which time Miguel-Ortiz will Face a Potential New Jersey State Prison Term of up to 20 Years.
