WASHINGTON, DC.- Longtime Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell announced today that he will be Stepping Down from his Leadership Role in November 2024.
Mitch McConnell, (R-KY), who is the Longest-Serving Senate Leader in U.S. History announced his decision Wednesday in The Senate Chamber just shortly after 12:00 p.m. that he will Step-Down in November, but will remain on The Senate Floor, McConnell's Senate Term will expire in 2027.
"So I Stand before you Mr. President, and my colleagues, to say this will be my last term as Republican Leader of The Senate," McConnell said from The Senate Well. "One of life's most underappreciated talents is to know when it's time to move on to life's next chapter."
McConnell served as Senate Minority Leader from 2007 to 2015, Majority Leader from 2015 to 2021, and was Majority Whip from 2003 to 2007. He has been the Leader of The Senate Republican Conference since 2007 and is the Longest Serving Senate Party Leader in the history of The United States.
