Atlantic City, New Jersey Man Pleads Guilty To The Shooting Of A Man

38-YEAR-OLD ATLANTIC CITY MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO SHOOTING A MAN AND THEN FLEEING ON A BICYCLE

     "After Being Sentenced To Prison For 48 Years In A Prior Case, Will Now Face An Additional 15 Years In Prison After Pleading Guilty Last Tuesday."

MAYS LANDING, NJ.- On Tuesday, February 20, 2024, Kevin Davis, 38, of Atlantic City, New Jersey, Entered a Guilty Plea to The Charges of First Degree Attempted Murder; and Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose in connection with The September 13, 2019 Shooting of a Man. In return for his Guilty Plea, The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office will request Davis be Sentenced to 15 Years in New Jersey State Prison, under The No Early Release Act.



     According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, on September 13, 2019, Mr. Davis Shot a man in the Stomach with a Handgun, severely injuring the man, Davis then fled the scene on a Bicycle. Detectives of The Atlantic City Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit were able to Identify Davis after reviewing Video Surveillance Footage from Numerous Locations throughout Atlantic City.


     After Tirelessly Backtracking through the Footage, Detectives were able to track Davis to a home in Atlantic City that he entered following The Shooting.


     On October 3, 2019, Members of The Atlantic City Police Department Executed a Court Authorized Search Warrant at that Home. Davis was Detained after he Fled on Foot. A Search of The Home uncovered the Clothing that Davis wore during The Shooting. Detectives also found a Loaded Handgun, which was determined to be different than the one used in The Shooting. Detectives also found a Large Amount of Fentanyl and Packaging Material consistent with Narcotics Sales.


     In March 2023, Davis was Convicted by an Atlantic County, New Jersey Jury on The Charges arising from The Search Warrant on October 3, 2019. Davis was Found Guilty on The Charges of Unlawful Possession of a Handgun While Maintaining a Fentanyl Production Facility. After being Found Guilty, Davis was Sentenced to 48 Years in New Jersey State Prison and was Required to Serve 24 Years before becoming Eligible for Parole.


     Further, in May 2023, Davis Pleaded Guilty to Committing a Home Invasion in Absecon, New Jersey, in October 2019 with the same handgun that was used in the September 13, 2019 Shooting. Davis was later Sentenced to 10 Years in New Jersey State Prison Concurrent with his 48 Year Sentence.
