20-YEAR-OLD ATLANTIC CITY MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO SHOOTING A MAN ON THE BOARDWALK IN JULY 2022

MAYS LANDING, NJ.- On Wednesday, February 21, 2024, during a Hearing in Atlantic County Superior Court, Wesley Briscoe, 20, of Atlantic City, New Jersey Entered a Guilty Plea on The Charge of Second Degree Aggravated Assault; Fourth Degree Pointing a Firearm; and Fourth Degree Hindering Apprehension for The July 2022, Atlantic City Boardwalk Shooting of a Man, Atlantic County Authorities reported.
In Return for The Guilty Plea, The Atlantic Prosecutor's Office will request that Mr. Briscoe be Sentenced to a Term of Three Years in New Jersey State Prison. Sentencing in the matter has been scheduled for April 2024.
The Guilty Plea stems from an incident, during the late evening hours of July 9, 2022, shortly before 1:00 a.m., Members of The Atlantic City Police Department responded to The Atlantic City Boardwalk on a report of a Shooting. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man suffering from a Gunshot Wound to his Head.
A subsequent investigation by Atlantic County Authorities was able to Identify Briscoe through Video Surveillance and Witness Statements as the individual who shot the man responsible for the Shooting. During the Hearing Briscoe admitted to Hiding his Clothing after the Shooting to avoid apprehension.
Briscoe remains detained in The Atlantic County Justice Facility and following being Sentenced he will be transferred to New Jersey State Prison.
