AN APPARENT DOMESTIC DISPUTE ENDS WITH A 51-YEAR-OLD MAN DEAD AND AN 18-YEAR-OLD MAN CHARGED

UPPER DEERFIELD, NJ.- An apparent Early Saturday Morning Domestic Dispute Tragically Ends with a 51-Year-Old Upper Deerfield Township, New Jersey man Dead and an 18-Year-Old man Charged for his Death.
According to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae, on Saturday, January 20, 2024, in the early morning hours, Members of The New Jersey State Police responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a Shooting at a Residence located on Quail Ridge Road in Upper Deerfield Township.
Upon arrival, State Troopers found a man, later identified as Joe Williams, 51, unresponsive from a Gunshot Wound. Mr. Williams ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased.
A subsequent investigation by Detectives of The New Jersey State Police and Investigators of The Cumberland County Prosector's Office were able to identify Jah'lyll Lawrence, 18, a resident of the address as the individual responsible for The Shooting Death of Mr. Williams.
Accordingly, later in the day on Saturday, Mr Lawrence was Taken into Custody and Formally Charged with First Degree Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Mr. Lawrence was Processed on The Charges and was Remanded to The Cumberland County Jail pending Future Court Proceedings in Cumberland County Superior Court.
