PERTH AMBOY, NJ.- A 30-Year-Old Perth Amboy, New Jersey man has been Sentenced to Seven Years in New Jersey State Prison for The August 7, 2022, Fatal Hit and Run Crash that Killed a 72-Year-Old man.
According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone, on August 7, 2022, just before 7:30 p.m., Members of The Perth Amboy Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting that a man had been Struck by a Motor Vehicle at The Intersection of Convery and Pfeiffer Boulevards in Perth Amboy.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Rocco Chirichillo, 72, of Perth Amboy, deceased at the scene. After interviewing witnesses, Officers learned that Mr. Chirichillo was crossing the roadway using a walker when he was Struck by a White Dodge Charger that then Fled the Scene.
An ensuing investigation by Members of The Perth Amboy Police Department and The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office determined that Hansel Farrier-Romero, 30, of Perth Amboy was the Operator of The White Dodge Charger that Struck and Killed Mr. Chirichillo, and then Fled the Scene. Mr. Farrier-Romero was located and arrested later that day and Formally Charged with Second Degree Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Crash Resulting in Death.
During a Court Hearing on June 16, 2023, Mr. Farrier-Romero Plead Guilty to The Second Degree Charge, resulting in the Death of Mr. Chirichillo. On Tuesday, January 16, 2024, The Honorable Thomas Abode, J.S.C. Sentenced Farrier-Romero to Seven Years in New Jersey State Prison.
