BREAKING: Marlboro, Township, New Jersey Man Charged In The Death Of Roommate

AN EARLY MORNING NEW YEAR'S DAY VERBAL DISPUTE ENDS WITH ONE DEAD AND ONE JAILED

     "Carl Richards Has Been Charged In Connection With The Beating Death Of His Roommate George L. Mott, III Inside Their Morganville Home."

Marlboro Township, NJ.- A 38-Year-Old Marlboro Township, New Jersey was Charged in connection with a New Year's Day Early Morning Beating Attack that Claimed the Life of his 64-Year-Old Roommate. 

     According to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago, on Monday, January 1, 2024, just before 1:00 a.m., Members of The Marlboro Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call requesting Urgent Medical Attention at a Residence located on Texas Road in The Morganville Section of The Township.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as George L. Mott, 64, Unresponsive from Severe Trauma to his Head, Face, and Neck. Mr. Mott was immediately transported to Old Bridge Medical Center where despite Life-Saving Efforts, Mr. Mott succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased an hour later at 1:49 a.m.

     An investigation by Members of The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Bureau and The Marlboro Township Police Department determined that following a Verbal Dispute Mr. Mott's Roommate, Carl A. Richards, 38, Physically Attacked Mr. Mott, ultimately causing his Death.

     Mr. Richards was Taken into Custody shortly thereafter and Formally Charged with One Count of First Degree Aggravated Manslaughter. Richards was Processed on The Charge and Remanded to The Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending Future Court Proceedings in Monmouth County Superior Court in Freehold, New Jersey.
