BREAKING: Newark, New Jersey Man Convicted Of Bank Robbery

29-YEAR-OLD NEWARK MAN WILL SPEND THE NEXT DECADE IN PRISON FOR THE 2021 CAPITAL ONE ROBBERY

     "Esau Grant Was Found Guilty Of Second Degree Robbery For Robbing The Capital One Bank In Newark In July 2021."

NEWARK, NJ.- On Friday, December 1, 2023, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II reported that a Jury sitting in Essex County, New Jersey has Convicted Esau Grant, 29, of Newark, of Robbing the Capital One Bank in Newark, New Jersey.



     On July 3, 2021, Mr. Grant was captured on Video walking into The Capital One Bank on Springfield Avenue in Newark. Mr. Grant then approached a Bank Teller, handing the Teller a Threatening Note that said, "I Have A Gun, Give Me All The Money From The Register Please, And No One Will Get Hurt." The Teller gave Grant $2,300.00.


     Following a Swift-Moving Investigation, Mr. Grant was identified by Essex County Law Enforcement Officials as the Suspect. Two Days later Mr. Grant was located and Arrested by Law Enforcement.


     Following a One-Day Trial before The Honorable Patrick J. Arre in Essex County Superior Court returned a Guilty Verdict on The Charge of Second Degree Robbery. 


     Following the Conviction, Ruddy A. Adames, who tried the case, thanked the jury for their service and for returning a just verdict.


     Sentencing in the matter has been Scheduled for January 26, 2024, before Judge Arre, at which time Mr. Grant will face the potential sentence of Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison.
