NEW YORK CITY POLICE OFFICER CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH A 2022 PATERSON DOMESTIC DISPUTE

     "Hariton Marachilian Has Been Charged With Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault, & Criminal Restraint."

PATERSON, NJ.- Following a Year-Long Investigation into a Domestic Violence incident that left a Paterson, New Jersey woman Severely Injured, on December 1, 2023, a New York City Police Officer has been Taken into Custody and Charged with Multiple Felony Offenses under the Domestic Violence Act.

     According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, on Friday, December 1, 2023, Hariton Marachilian, who is currently employed as a New York City Police Officer was Arrested and Charged with First Degree Kidnapping; Two Counts of Second Degree Aggravated Assault; Third Degree Criminal Restraint; and Third Degree Criminal Coercion. 

     Based on the investigation and according to the Criminal Complaint, Marachilian was identified as the individual who allegedly Kidnapped and Assaulted the Female Victim causing her to Sustain Serious Injuries. Due to The New Jersey State Domestic Violence Act, the name of the woman will remain unknown.

     Mr. Marachilian was Processed on The Charges and Remaned to The Passaic County Jail Pending Future Court Proceedings. The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office has Filed a Pretrial Detention Motion to have Mr. Marachilian Detained pending the resolutions of the charges filed against him. The Motion will be heard on December 12, 2023, in Passaic County Superior Court.
