BREAKING: Trenton, New Jersey Man Convicted In Shooting Homicide

32-YEAR-OLD TRENTON MAN CONVICTED FOR THE SHOOTING DEATH OF AN INNOCENT BYSTANDER

     " Blake Pittman Was Convicted Last Week Of Murder & Weapons Offenses In The Reckless Fatal Shooting Of Pablo Herrera Chun

TRENTON, NJ.- On Thursday, November 16, 2023, a Mercer County Jury Convicted a 32-Year-Old Trenton, New Jersey man for The July 14, 2021, Murder of Pablo Herrera Chun, who was Struck by a Bullet as he walked along the Sidewalk on North Stockton Street in Trenton, New Jersey.



     According to Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri, on Thursday a Jury sitting in Mercer County, New Jersey, Convicted Blake Pittman, 32, of Trenton, New Jersey on The Charges of First Degree Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and Second Degree Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons.


     The Conviction stems, when on July 14, 2021, at approximately 8:39 p.m., Members of The Trenton Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter Activation in the area of 43 North Stockton Street in Trenton. Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man, identified as Pablo Herrera Chun, 53, of Trenton, New Jersey, on the Ground suffering from a Gunshot Wound to the Chest. Mr. Herrera Chun was immediately transported to the Hospital where he succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased a short time later.


     A Swift-Moving investigation by Members of The Mercer County Homicide Task Force and The Trenton Police Department were quickly able to identify Mr. Pittman as The Shooter and the individual responsible for the Death of Mr. Herrera Chun. A Warrant was issued for Pittman's Arrest and Two Weeks later on July 28, 2021, Pittman was located in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, and Taken into Custody by Members of The U.S. Marshals Service New York/ New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force.


     During the Four-Week Trial, Mercer County Assistant Prosecutors William P. Fisher and Scott Gershman presented evidence that on the evening of July 14, 2021, Pittman intended to Shoot an Individual Driving North on North Stockton Street, but Missed and Instead Hit Mr. Herrera Chun, as he Walk on The Sidewalk on North Stockton Street between Wood and Academy Streets. 


     "The State commends the jury's careful and meticulous review of the evidence in reaching its verdict," Prosecutor Onofri said. "Pablo Herrera Chun was a family man who worked in this country to help support his family back home. While one cannot imagine the grief his family has suffered as a result of this horrific act of the defendant, it is our hope that his family can take some solace from this just verdict."


     Pittman is Scheduled to be Sentenced on February 9, 2023, at the time when Mr. Herrera Chun was Killed, Pittman had only been released from Prison for less than a year. Due to Pittman's prior convictions for Aggravated Manslaughter and Robbery, Pittman will Face a Maximum Sentence of Life in New Jersey State Prison Without the Possibility of Parole.
