32-YEAR-OLD RESTAURATEUR CHARGED FOR KILLING TWO EARLY THIS MORNING IN A CAR CRASH

TEANECK, NJ.- A Friday Night Out of Drinking and Partying has resulted in A 32-Year-Old Teaneck, New Jersey man being Charged in connection with a Single Vehicle Crash that Tragically Killed Two Passengers and has left him Hospitalized after his vehicle left the roadway and Struck a Tree early this morning on Teaneck Road.
According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Saturday, October 21, 2023, just shortly after 2:00 a.m., Members of The Teaneck Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a Single Motor Vehicle Crash had occurred on Teaneck Road near Bilton Street in Teaneck, New Jersey.
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a 2021 BMW M850i operated by Teddy Mejia, 32, of Teaneck, New Jersey. Mr. Mejia's BMW had Traveled Off the Road and Struck a Tree causing the Vehicle to Overturn. Mejia was immediately transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment for Serious Injuries, but sadly Two Male Passengers in The Vehicle were Pronounced Deceased at the Scene.
Mejia was Suspected of operating his BMW under the influence of alcohol and was placed under Police Detention at the Hospital. During Detention at the Hospital, a Controlled Dangerous Substance was recovered from his person. The names of The Two Passengers are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Following the investigation into the Crash, Mr. Mejia was Served at Hackensack University Medical Center and Formally Charged with Two Counts of Second Degree Vehicular Homicide, for Driving While Intoxicated; and Third Degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. Mejia was also Issued Three Motor Vehicle Substance.
Upon his release from Hackensack University Medical Center, Mr. Mejia will be Remanded to The Bergen County Jail pending his First Appearance in Begen County Central Judicial Processing Court.
