BREAKING: Camden, New Jersey Homicide Investigation

18-YEAR-OLD CAMDEN MAN SHOT AND KILLED WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON ON A CAMDEN STREET

     " Camden County Authorities Continue To Investigate The Fatal Shooting Of Jesus Manuel Ortiz-Hernandes."

CAMDEN, NJ.- Detectives of The Camden County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Unit and The Camden County Police Department are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the Wednesday Afternoon Shooting Death of an 18-Year-Old Camden City man.


     According to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay, on Wednesday, October 19, 2023, at approximately 4:14 p.m., Members of The Camden County Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter Activation in the area of The 2700 Block of Hayes Avenue in Camden. Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered a man, later identified Jesus Manuel Ortiz-Hernandez, 18, of Camden City, New Jersey, at the Intersection 22nd Street and River Road who had sustained a Life-Threatening Gunshot Wound.


     Mr. Ortiz-Hernandez was immediately transported to Cooper University Hospital, and despite Life-Saving Efforts, Mr. Ortiz-Hernandez succumbed to his injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased at 7:15 p.m. 


     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time.
