CHATSWORTH SPECIAL NEEDS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHER CHARGED FOR INAPPROPRIATELY TOUCHING STUDENTS

CHATSWORTH, NJ.- Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw reported Yesterday that a 58-Year-Old Special Education Teacher employed at a Chatsworth Elementary School was Charged with Sexual Touching Seven Students while they were Enrolled at the School.
Vincent Root, 58, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has been Charged with Seven Counts of Second Degree Sexual Assault; and Seven Counts of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Mr. Root was Taken into Custody on Thursday Morning at The Burlington County Prosecutor's Office in Mount Holly, New Jersey.
Root was Processed on The Charges and Remanded to The Burlington County Jail pending Future Court Proceedings. The Burlington County Prosecutor's Office has Filed a Pretrial Detention to have Mr. Root Detained pending the resolution of The Charges Filed Against him.
The Charges are a result of an investigation that began in September 2023, after a Student came forward and accused Mr. Root of Inappropriately Touching him during the previous School Year. During the course of the investigation, Detectives learned that Root had Touched Six Other Male Students in Classrooms over Several Years inside the School.
Chatsworth District School Officials have placed Mr. Root on Administrative Leave and has been Banned from School Property. The Names, Ages, and further details of The Boys are being withheld due to their Ages and to Protect the Identity of The Students.
