FREEHOLD, NJ.- Today, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago reported that a Monmouth County Sheriff's Office Correctional Police Officer has Pleaded Guilty in connection with Providing a Cell Phone to an Inmate at The Monmouth County Correctional Institution.
Latonya C. Johnson, 52, of Piscataway, New Jersey entered a Plea of Guilty last week before The Honorable Christie L. Bevacqua, J.S.C. to One Count of Second Degree Knowingly Providing an Electronic Communication Device to an Inmate.
The Plea is the result of an investigation by Members of The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office Professional Responsibility & Bias Crime Bureau with assistance from The Monmouth County Correctional Institution's Investigations Division determined that between May and October 2022, Ms. Johnson while employed as Correctional Officer had been engaged in a Romantic Relationship with the Inmate and brought a Cell Phone into the facility and Provided to the inmate so the Two could better Communicate.
