BREAKING: Lakewood Township Fatal Crash Investigation

AN EARLY SATURDAY MORNING TWO-VEHICLE CRASH IN LAKEWOOD TOWNSHIP LEAVES THREE DEAD

     " After Failing To Stop At A Red Light A Honda Accord Strikes A Dodge Pickup Killing 3 Early Saturday Morning."

LAKEWOOD, NJ.- Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer reported that on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Members of The Lakewood Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call in the area of New Hampshire Avenue and Cedar Bridge Avenue reporting a Serious Motor Vehicle Crash.


     An investigation conducted by The Ocean County Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Aquad and The Lakewood Township Police Department determined that a 2009 Honda Accord containing Four Passengers was traveling Eastbound on Cedar Bridge Avenue. When the Driver of The Honda Accord Failed to Stop at a Red Light and entered the Intersection Striking a 2008 Dodge Pickup Truck. The impact caused the Dodge Truck to roll over and Break in Half. The Honda Accord continued off the roadway and Struck a Metal Traffic Signal Pole Severing the Accord in Two. 


     The Driver of The Dodge Pickup was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment for Minor Injuries. The Driver of The Honda Accord and One of The Passengers were pronounced Dead at the Scene. The Three remaining Passengers of the Accord were also transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where one of the passengers succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later. The other Two Passengers remain Hospitalized in Critical Condition.


     The investigation remains active and ongoing. The identities of the Three People Killed have not been released at this time. More information may become available once released by Authorities.
