ESSEX COUNTY AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATING THE DEATH OF A WOMAN FOUND LYING ON THE GROUND

NEWARK, NJ.- Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II reported that Detectives are actively investigating the Death of a 41-Year-Old Newark, New Jersey Woman who was found on the ground, early yesterday morning.
On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at approximately 4:28 a.m., Members of The Newark Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting that a Woman had been Struck by a Garbage Truck while Lying on the ground on The 100 Block of Clinton Avenue in Newark.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a woman, later identified as Vitina Stern, 41, of Newark deceased on the ground after apparently being Struck by a Garbage Truck which was emptying a dumpster. Ms. Stern was pronounced deceased at the scene at 5:23 a.m. by The Essex County Medical Examiner's Office.
