BREAKING: Asbury Park, New Jersey Homicide Investigation

MONMOUTH COUNTY AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATING THE FATAL SHOOTING OF AN ASBURY PARK MAN

     " Detectives Are Investigating The Wednesday Night Fatal Shooting Of Derek L. Bussey Of Asbury Park."

ASBURY PARK, NJ.- Monmouth County Authorities continue to investigate a Wednesday Night Fatal Shooting that has Claimed the Life of a 27-Year-Old Asbury Park, New Jersey man, according to The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.


     On Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Members of The Asbury Park Police Department responded to an area of Atkins Avenue between Adams Street and Boston Way on a report of Multiple Gunshots. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Derek L. Bussey, 27, of Asbury Park suffering from Multiple Gunshot Wounds.


     Mr. Bussey was immediately transported to Jersey Shore Univesity Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.


     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time.
