SAYREVILLE MAN CHARGED AFTER POSING AS A CAB DRIVER IN ORDER TO SEXUALLY ASSAULT A WOMAN

PERTH AMBOY, NJ.- Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone reported that a 69-Year-Old Sayreville, New Jersey man has been taken into Custody and Charged in connection with the Kidnapping and Sexual Assault of a Woman that occurred on Saturday, July 1, 2023, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.
According to Authorities, on Saturday, July 1, 2023, The Perth Amboy Police Department was notified that a Woman was approached by an Unkown Man, who was operating a Silver Kia Soul, who told the Woman that he was a Taxi Driver. The man then drove the Woman to multiple locations and Sexually Assault her.
A Swift-Moving investigation by Detective Omar Rivera of The Perth Amboy Police Department, in conjunction with Detective Lauren Leyva of The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office was quickly able to identify Andrew S. Giannetto, 69, of Sayreville, New Jersey as the suspect and the individual responsible for the Kidnapping and Sexual Assault of the woman.
Accordingly, on Sunday, July 2, 2023, Mr. Giannetto was taken into custody without incident and formally Charged with One Count of First Degree Kidnapping; and One Count of Third Degree Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact. Giannetto was Processed on The Charges and Remanded to The Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center. The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office has Filed a Pretrial Detention Motion to have Mr. Giannetto Detained pending the resolution of the Charges Filed against him.
