ONE DEAD, AND ONE HOSPITALIZED IN MONDAY MORNING JERSEY CITY HOUSE FIRE

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and The Jersey City Fire Department are continuing their investigation into the cause of a Jersey City House Fire that has Claimed the Life of a 54-Year-Old Jersey City man and sent a Woman to the Hospital.
On Monday, July 10, 2023, at approximately 6:50 a.m., Members of The Jersey Fire Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a House Fire located at 269 Stegman Street in Jersey City, New Jersey. Upon arrival, First Responders located a Fully Involved Fire in the front of the House.
While fighting the Fire, Firefighters found an Unresponsive Man, later identified as Christopher Williams, 54, of Jersey City inside of the House. Mr. Williams was immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased just shortly after 7:30 a.m., Monday. A Second Person, a 41-Year-Old Woman was injured while jumping out a window. The woman was transported to The Jersey City Medical Center, where she was treated and released later in the day.
The preliminary investigation by The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force determined that the Fire originated in the front enclosed porch of the House. The Cause remains under active investigation.
