NEWARK, NJ.- Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens reported that The Essex County Prosecutor's Office Crime Scene Investigation Bureau continues to investigate a Two-Vehicle Crash that occurred in Newark, Early Sunday Morning that Killed One and left Two Injured.
On Sunday, July 9, 2023, just shortly before 3:30 a.m., Members of The Newark Police Department responded to Route 1 & 9 North and McClellan Street on a report of a Serious Motor Vehicle Crash. Upon arrival, Police Officers located a Two-Vehicle Crash. The Driver of Vehicle, Cheikh Faye, 35, of Weehawken, New Jersey Died as a result of injuries he sustained and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A Passenger in Mr. Faye's vehicle sustained Serious Injuries and was transported to Unversity Hospital, and has been listed in Critical Condition. The Driver of the Second Vehicle was transported to Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and treated for Non-Life Threatening Injuries.
