BREAKING: Bergenfield, New Jersey Fugitive Apprehended

MAN WANTED OUT OF BERGEN COUNTY FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN NYC

     " After A Brief Standoff With Police Aaron Sierra Was Taken Into Custody In New York City On Monday."

BERGENFIELD, NJ.- Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella reported that a 22-Year-Old Bergenfield, New Jersey man Wanted on Charges for the May 21, 2023, Shooting of a 20-Year-Old Woman, was Apprehended on Monday, July 10, 2023, in New York City after a brief Standoff with Police Officers. 


     On Sunday, May 21, 2023, at approximately 6:50 p.m., Members of The Bergenfield Police Department responded to a report of Shots Fired inside a Bergenfield Residence. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a 20-Year-Old Woman suffering from Multiple Gunshot Wounds. The Woman was immediately transported to a nearby Hospital for treatment. The Woman has since been released and continues to recover from her Wounds.


     A Swift-Moving Investigation by Members of The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and Detectives of The Bergenfield Police Department was able to quickly identify Aaron Sierra, 22, of Bergenfield, New Jersey, as the individual that Shot the Woman and then Fled.


     Accordingly, on Monday, May 22, 2023, Aaron Sierra was Formally Charged with One Count of Attempted Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; Third Degree Receiving Stolen Property; and Fourth Degree Obstruction of Justice by Flight. A Warrant was issued for his Arrest, and Mr. Sierra was listed in the database as a Fugitive from Justice, an investigation into his Whereabouts ensued.


     On Monday, July 10, 2023, Mr. Sierra was located in New York City by Detectives of The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, and after a Brief Standoff with Authorities Mr. Sierra, was taken into custody by Members of The New York City Police Departments Emergency Service's Unit. Mr. Sierra was then transported to an area Hospital and upon being released Sierra will be turned over to The New York County Department of Corrections pending extradition to New Jersey to Face the Charges filed against him.
