BREAKING: Jersey City Teen Charged

14-YEAR-OLD JERSEY CITY TEEN CHARGED WITH MONDAY'S SHOOTING DEATH OF A 15-YEAR-OLD

     " Teen Charged For Fatally Shooting Tyshawn Smith Early Monday Morning."

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- On Saturday, June 10, 2023, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported that on Friday, June 9, 2023, following an investigation, Members of The Hudson County Homicide Unit Arrested a 14-Year-Old Jersey City Boy for Killing Tyshawn Smith in Jersey City, early Monday Morning.

     The Teen was taken into Custody at The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office in Secaucus, New Jersey, and Formally Charged with One Count of First Degree Aggravated Manslaughter; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and Second Degree Possession Of A Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. Because of the Boy's Age, no other information will be available.

     On Monday, June 5, 2023, at approximately 4:20 a.m., Members of The Jersey City Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a Shooting located at 124 Wilkinson Avenue in Jersey City, New Jersey.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a Teen, later identified as Tyshawn Smith, 15, of Jersey City, Unresponsive from an apparent Gunshot Wound. Tyshawn Smith was immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injury and was subsequently pronounced deceased a short time later. The Regional Medical Examiner determined the Cause of Death to be a Gunshot Wound to the Abdomen, and the Manner of Death to be Homicide.
