Newark Homicide Investigation Continues

INVESTIGATION CONTINUES INTO AN EAST ORANGE MAN FOUND SHOT TO DEATH IN HIS CAR

     " Essex County Authorities Investigating The May 3, 2023, Shooting Death Of Jayden Jarvis Who Was Found Dead Inside His Car."

NEWARK, NJ.- Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II reported that Detectives of The Essex County Homicide Task Force are continuing to investigate the May 3, 2023, Fatal Shooting of a 20-Year-Old East Orange, New Jersey man who was found dead inside his car in Newark, New Jersey.


     On Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at approximately 9:43 p.m., Members of The Newark Police Department to The 200 Block of 4th Street in Newark on a report of Shots Fired. Upon arrival, Police Officers were unable to locate a Crime Scene. Within minutes, Police Officers were notified of a Car Accident that had just occurred in the area of First Street and Sussex Avenue in Newark. Police Officers responded and found a man, later identified as Jayden Jarvis, 20, of East Orange, New Jersey in his car, suffering from Multiple Gunshot Wounds. 


     Mr. Jarvis was immediately transported to University Hospital in Newark where he was pronounced deceased at 11:16 p.m.


     The investigation remains active and ongoing. As of Today, no Arrests have been made. Anyone with information regarding the Shooting Death of Mr. Jarvis is urged to contact The Essex County Prosecutor's Office Tips Line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
