Newark Man Convicted Of Stabbing Death

PANHANDLER CONVICTED OF FATALLY STABBING ANOTHER PANHANDLER DURING ALTERCATION

     " Lance Boone Was Convicted On Friday For The July 27, 2020, Fatal Stabbing Of Rashon Williams."

NEWARK, NJ.- Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II reported that on Friday a Jury sitting in Essex County, New Jersey, Convicted Lance Boone, 57, of Newark, New Jersey for the Fatal Stabbing of Rashon Williams, 43, of Newark, New Jersey.


     On Friday, March 31, 2023, Following a Two-Week Trial before The Honorable Ronald D. Wigler, J.S.C. The Jury found Mr. Boone Guilty Of First Degree Aggravated Manslaughter; Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Fourth Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Mr. Boone has been Scheduled for Sentencing on June 2, 2023, in Essex County State Superior Court, at which time Mr. Boone will Face a Term of up to Thirty Years in New Jersey State Prison. The Sentence will be Subject to The No Early Release Act, which will require Mr. Boone to Serve Eighty-Five Percent of his Custodial Sentence before becoming Eligible for Parole.


     The Conviction stems from an Incident that occurred on July 27, 2020, when Members of The Newark Police Department responded to the area of Market Street and McCarter Highway on a report of a Stabbing. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Rashon Williams, 43, of Newark, New Jersey, Unresponsive from an apparent Stab Wound to his Upper Chest. Mr. Williams was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene. 


     A joint investigation by Members of The Essex County Homicide Task Force in conjunction with Detectives of The Newark Police Department Quickly determined that Mr. Boone during an altercation with Mr. Williams Fatally Stabbed Williams in the Heart. Mr. Williams was Unarmed at the time of the Stabbing.
