Investigation Into Newark Vehicle Crash

ESSEX COUNTY AUTHORITIES ARE INVESTIGATING AN EARLY SUNDAY MORNING CRASH

     " Sunday Morning Crash On Route 1 & 9 In Newark Has Killed 2 & Leaves 1 Hospitalized In Critical Condition."

NEWARK, NJ.- Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, reported that Members of The Essex County Prosecutor's Office Crime Scene Investigations Bureau are actively investigating a Two Motor Vehicle Crash that left Two People Dead and another Person Hospitalized in Critical Condition.

     On Sunday, April 2, 2023, at approximately 2:38 a.m., Members of The Newark Police Department and The Newark Fire Department responded to Route 1 & 9 North near Mile Marker 49.6 in Newark on a report of a Motor Vehicle Crash.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers located a Serious 2 Vehicle Crash. A Passenger in One Vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the Driver was transported to University Hospital in Newark and is in Critical Condition. The Driver of the Second Vehicle was also pronounced deceased at the scene.
